'03 FX-4 --> city milage just brutal?

Im sorry that math was gallons per 1/4 of a tank. But now we can go off of that. 4.25 goes into 22... 5.17647059... How's that.

Anyone wanna drive cross country? Not my fukin truck...

bro .... your truck has issues. My Edelbrock carbed 460 powered 79 F-250 2wd on 33's with 4.10's and a C-6 got 10 mpg.....that was after I recalibrated the speedometer....... come to think of it..... my first truck was a 76 F-100 with a 390 and a C-6 on 235/75/15 les schwab grand prix road huggers and it got 12 mpg........ your ranger has issues. My 91 Explorer on 31's and 3.73's got a best of 21 hwy and a worst of 14 city with mixed 4x4 use........

even my dually with 4.56 and a power stroke gets 13.

I went 211 miles on a full tank. I ran it to about 16.5 gallons before I filled cause it took that much at fillip. So I did 211 divided by 17 and got 12.41176blah. That is horrible. So I could get 10 and 15 mpg at times.

I am about to buy a 4 cyl to drive around and put the ranger away as I never want to get rid of it, or I could get a new engine and hope for the best. New as in $900.00 engine and tranny with 96k miles. I do not have the means at the moment to drop the engine in myself and am fighting with landlord by holding rent due to the fact that she wants to lock basement so we can't use our washer and dryer. My heat has also been turned off and I have a 2 yr old and my wife is preg. I am hoping she goes through the courts.

I would try a tune up before purchasing a 96K motor. I can get 300 miles out of my tank easy without worrying about the fuel light.

I would love to get 300 miles a tank. I average 200-210 miles a tank with city driving
.

The 4.0L's have never really been known for good gas mileage. I have the same year FX4 with 4.10's and I get about 15 around town and just barely breaking into 20 on the freeway

Edit: The truck is sitting about about 103,000 miles with a tune up just before the 100,000 mark

right on, well I feel a little better about the brutal mileage I'm gettin. What areas do you guys think are due for a tune up at 90k?

Thanks for advice.

No problem, and probably the best thing to help out your fuel mileage is the driver mod:icon_thumby:

If your curious about what areas to check out during the 90k and/or 100k maintenance services here's a link for ya, just scroll down to page 23: http://www.motorcraftservice.com/pubs/content/~WO3RAN/~MUS~LEN/41/03nmgmg6e.pdf
