I was changing my oil a couple weeks ago and discovered that my front differential is leaking. I've got an 03 FX4 Level II, and was wondering if anyone's had experience dealing with replacing the gasket and such.
I've had to open up the rear diff twice to change the rear axle seal, so it's not a big deal to me to get into it just to add some RTV to the cover and seal it back up. My question revolves more around actually getting TO the differential, the cover, and all the bolts that hold it on. I'm in the process of moving, and I haven't been able to find my repair manual yet, so I'm at a bit of a loss.
I took a quick look at it, and it appears that it's tucked up behind the front cross member. Perhaps just jacking up the truck and unloading the front suspension will give me the room I need?
Again, any thoughts and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
