I have an 03 2.3, 2wd, auto that will not move in Drive or Reverse. 1st and 2nd will move it but it has a shudder. Can the auto trans be used from an 03 3.0 by changing the bellhousings?

Yes but the pump bolts over the bell housing so the pump and front shaft come out first so it's a little more complicated that a simple swaparoo. You need to align the pump very carefully during re-assembly.

Also if the trans is fubar do not re-use the torque converter.

Thank you sir, I just need to get this thing on the road and the used 2.3 transmissions are double the price of the 3.0 ones for some reason. I plan on replacing the torque converter even with the used trans just because.. Are there differences in the torque converters between the two? Does it matter if the 3.0 trans is a 5R44E or 5R55E? I don't mean to bombard you with questions but I've been researching this forever and I've driven myself literally insane.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "the pump bolts over the bellhousing" but hopefully it will be self explanatory..

3.0l used a 5R44E same as 2.3l, only the 4.0l used the 5R55E

The generic name for trans is 5R55E by most resellers, just FYI, but if it came from a 4cyl or 3.0l V6 its a 44E

The bellhousing on automatics is part of the pump assembly inside transmission
Its not like swapping bell housings on the old manual transmissions

Thank you sir, looking at used trans they were listing both for the 3.0 and I'm easily confused..
