I NEED HELP. Its cold in Canada and I don't have a blower fan to push the hot air into my truck. I have a 2002 B4000 4x4 and the number 2 10A fuse located in the fuse box by the drivers door keeps blowing on me. This fuse controls the daytime running lights, back up lamps, transmission (o/d), passenger air bag deactivation switch and the blower motor relay. I put a 15A in today and it ran the blower motor for about 15 minutes and as soon as i put the truck into reverse while the fan was still going, it blew the fuse. Im not sure what to do. If anyone has had this problem or would know where to start looking to diagnose it, any help is very much appreciated.
Thanks, Kevin.

Done any off roading lately? Check your reverse bulbs for continuity to make sure they are not shorted out. Also check underneath the truck to see if you have rubbed a wiring loom and grounded it out. HAve any problems with fan speeds not working? Change the fan speed resistor pack. Do you have tilt steering? On my truck, the wires broke for the cruise control and it would not work at all. If this has happened the hot side of the switch could be shorting out. Try replacing the fuse and leaving the steering wheel tilted up and see if the fuse blows again. It's like Ford didn't leave enough wire between connectors to keep the wires from destroying themselves. If it isn't any of those things I can't help.

Correction

:icon_hornsup: I meant the wires in the gear selector for the O/D not cruise control.

My bet is also a broken or chaffed wire in the column from the shift lever for the OD button.

Sorry to thread jack :-/ Sasquatch do you know if the 98's had this same problem? I keep popping a fuse that runs the O/D and my reverse lights. They will work then randomly will pop the fuse.

I havent gone offroad with it. I checked the reverse bulbs, they are fine. Checked under the truck, all the wires look good. There was one wire in loom at the back under the tailgate that was wedged in between metal but I pulled it down from that and it still popped the fuse. Fan speeds work good, just replaced the resistor under the hood by the blower motor. It has tilt steering, I haven't checked there. But cruise works all the time, even when the fuse is popped. I will throw another loop in. One day it blew 3 fuses just by sitting in the driveway idling. Blower motor was on full blast pumping out the heat for the whole 30 minutes, and when i went to move the shift lever it popped (Automatic). More weird is that after that it ran for about 3 days with without popping a fuse. Then I shifted into reverse and it popped. I pulled apart the Digital Transmission Range Sensor on the side of the trannie and the connections were all clean. I put another fuse in and its been going now for a little while. I'm not actually sure when it was I put the last fuse in, but it wasnt that long ago and I havent driven it much, other than moving it in and out of the driveway, which requires shifting. Now, the passanger air bag deactivation is on that same circuit and I have it turned off, so the orange light is on where the key goes in. And whenever I shift the light blinks very vaguely. I may try turning on the passanger air bag again. I dont think that will help but who knows. I have gone through about 15 fuses in the last 3 weeks. Its a 10 amp fuse which runs a lot of things. I think its a little low, but who knows. It always seems to happen when its shifted period. Its done it going into drive aswell (it did that after I posted the first thread.) But the majority of the time its going into reverse. I don't know if you will be able to relay more info to me after reading my big letter here, But I will take a look under the column tommorow to see whats up. Thanks for the feedback, I hope I can get this solved soon.
thanks Kevin.

Correction lol

I got carried away and only read your first post with the cruise control in it. O/D works when the fuse is good. But when the fuse pops, the O/D goes. No reverse lights. The passanger air bag goes on, The airbag light on the dash comes on, the blower motor stops working on all speeds and the daytime running lights don't come on. Still runs and shifts fine. This problem is so troubling for me.
I have the link to the wiring diagrams that I found on the internet. http://marecki266.strefa.pl/schematy/b-series/mazda_b4000_2002.pdf
They have all the diagrams of every system in the 2002 Mazda B4000 2wd and 4x4.
Thanks, Kevin.
