02 A?C compressor come on when it wants

I have a 02 I just picked up I have been driving it for the last for years but just bought it from my company. I can drive it for hrs with A/C on and blows nothing but hot Air Compressor is off don't ask me why but as soon as I am
5 or 10 min from where ever it is that I am going. hot and sweaty the compressor kicks in and freezes me out this thing puts out the coldest air ever I just wish I could figure out why it only comes on when it wants to.
Please help I want A/C when I want

Use a test light and see if the compressor is getting voltage. If not, most common failure is the low pressure switch on the accumulator. It is a two wire plug, and when the engine is running with the a/c on it should have power on both wires. If it only has it on one, it is not closing, replace the switch.

If you have power to the compressor, the coil may be weak, or the gap in the clutch is too wide. Do a little diagnosis, and see what you come up with.shady

yeah always start with the obvious, had a little time to check it out today
and found out that the relay switch was extremely hot so swapped it for another and snap clutch on A/C Comp popped right on. Sweet works like a champ now
