01 Ranger Edge v6 auto. I changed out my 60/40 seats for mountainer buckets and now I have a center floor console to install. Since this truck never has had a center console is there pre-drilled holes for a center floor console ? I looked under the truck and noticed that above the tranny there seems to be a plate (black) with four screws holding it in place. There are also two other screws in the center. All the screws are facing down towards the tranny. There are clips to hold the place in place. I cut a 3 inch slit in my rubber flooring ( no carpet) and felt to see if there were any pre-drilled holes and there is not. My question is: Where is there a plate installed in the flooring? I was thinking of getting four screws and just screw them in place in the floor to install the console but I was just checking to see about that plate? Thanks for the help:icon_surprised:

The plate you are seeing above the trans is just to block the hole in the floor for the shifter on a manual trans. As far as putting a screw in it, you won't hurt anything. If you have cup holders the plate is right under them.

As far as pre-drilled holes, no, not that I know of, but some Rangers did have a full length console, so there might be something for them as far as threaded bosses.

When I put consoles in my vehicles I just let the console sit where I want it long enough to make it's own marks in the carpet, then I drill pilot holes and use self-tapping screws to hold it. You might need to make some other marks since you have the rubber mat instead of carpet.

Lots of people have done this swap, so it should be doable.

You don't say where you live so I will assume it gets cold there some of the time...when mounting the console you want to leave as much of the rubber matting over that hump as possible...it helps to keep cold air out of the cab...

I've never seen any holes meant for a console so I would agree with what Adsm08 says and just use self tapping screws...make sure there is nothing on the other side of the floor that might get damaged...like wires and such...most of which should be well out of the way but it won't hurt to take a good look first.
