I have an '01 Ranger supercab with the 4 doors. I'm going to do a 3" body lift on it. I know the 33's fit but was wondering if i could fit 35's on it. My buddy has some toyo 35's that i can get for a great price. If this is possible what wheel specs should i look at (backspacing, off set etc.)? I would only be running these until I was able to get the KM2's in 33's, so a few months tops. Would I have to re gear to do this also? I really cant at this point. TIA

There's a slight chance that 35's may fit if you don't wheel....or turn your steering wheel. Why get new wheels for tires you're only going to use for a few months? You don't need to re gear but it won't be very fun or practical. Why not just wait for your KM2's?

You'll need to trim the fenders some for 35s to fit, and you'll want to regear to 4.88.

Unless 35s is what you want to run, get the 33s (you'll still probably want to regear though... 4.56 for 33s).

hmm, well I was just going to run the 35's till i got the 33's. But it sounds like its not worth it. Wont i need to get new wheels for the 33's anyhow or will they fit on the stock 16's with out rubbing? I thought the stocks weren't wide enough or had the right off set not to rub. Once you re gear what is the hwy driving like and does it kill the gas mileage?
Also I have the 3.0L and manual transmission but I plan on doing the 1.71:1 rockers, will that help considerably with the 33's or should I still re gear also?

If you get the 33's for a 16 inch rim, sure they will. I don't have a bl, but I think people have run 11.50 and 12.50, the 12.50 rubbing a little from what i've heard.

What's your current gear ratio? What trans? What bed style?

I also have an 01 Xcab 4x4 Ranger. It's currently bodylifted, suspension lifted, running 35's, 4.88's, aussie locker, and 5spd manual.

I ran the set up you are wanting to run for about a month or so...3" BL, 35x12.50, and I had 4.10's at the time. I maxed out my torsion bars, pulled my flares, and pulled my valence. In my opinion, no matter what wheel you go with, you are going to rub your inner fender at full left lock. I rubbed no where else except at full left lock(on the street). My wheels are 15x10 w/ 4" backspace. You will likely throw your flares and take your fender out with it if you have flares. Fleetsides dont take too kindly to oversize tires...shoot...i throw flares in my current double lifted setup.

For the street, the truck was IMO a perfect size. The 4.10's wern't too bad, but still not very highway friendly(dropped the RPMS too low to be even remotely close to efficient). I was definately not comfortable with wheeling it being only bodylifted on 35's. Definate trimming of your valence will be in store(I rub it being double lifted)

There are a few 98+ stepsides around the forum world running the bodylift and 35's with no real issues. The flareside fenders are bigger and dont have to deal with having flares...but still may suffer the inner fender rubbing and valence rubbing.

I have the 3L, 5 speed manual trans, extra cab 4 door, standard bed, and I dont know what gears or how to check, and I'm running a slight tbar crank right now (two turns out from full in). Im not going to do the 35" thing. I'll just go with the 33's and 3" bl. Should I still re gear for the 33's and do I need aftermarket wheels also? I noticed alot of guys using the 15" wheels for the 33's, I guess cause the 16's you can only get the metric tire size of 285's?

Being a 3.0L, I'd go 4.88 gears for the 33s. Whatever came stock no matter what it is won't be sufficient to turn a set of 33s efficiently.

285/75R16s will fit the stock 16s fine, although slightly wider wheels wouldn't hurt either.

Yeah I found out i have the 4:10 rear end. So no on the 4:56's like others say? I'm also gonna do the 1.71:1 rockers, I hear that helps a lot with the low end tq.

Agreed^

It's all about power output....more power, but better it'll overcome bigger tires w/o having to swap gears. You see alot of 4.0's with 4.10s and 35's and 3.73 with 33's.....sure not optimum, but it does just fine in most situations.

If keeping the 16's, I'd do a 305/75R16 with the bodylift. May have a little more middle tread wear due to the stock 7" wide rims though....wouldn't hurt to get new wheels. Or go to 15's...tires and wheels are cheaper than 16's.

Yeah the tires my buddy has are 35x12.50x17 (nice looking Toyo's though). I dont think thats gonna work to well with my 3.0. He swears I can run them with only a 3" BL but everything I keep reading says the 35's rub if you dont trim the fender and valance.

If I gave you all the info you need in my posted in your own thread, why PM me and ask me again???
