Looking for a new rear driveshaft for my 88 ranger xlt. It's a 4x4 manual transmission. I can't seem to find the right size. It's a prop shaft about 47 inches. I can only find ones that are 52.5 and 39.8 inches. Anyone know what's up with this situation.
Hi, I've got a 92 ranger I'm putting together for my ol'lady and am having a hard time finding a larger yoke to accommodate the new drive shaft I just had built... (Dumb, I know!) The dude that owns the local driveline shop told me that a larger yoke would be available and if for some odd reason...
Hey there, I finally got a TK5 4WD transmission for my truck. Before I start tearing everything apart, I wanted to know if I could still use the same driveshaft, including the one for the 4WD.
The length of a TK4 4WD transmission is 24 inches, a TK5 is 25.932 inches from what it says here on...

Hey all,
I got a 91 Ranger Supercab that the Drive Shaft Center Bearing gave out on.
I got the part between the center bearing and rear off.
Can I just unscrew the nut on the drive shaft and slip the bearing off? Or do I need to drop the driveshaft between the transmission and center bearing...
2000 3.0 5spd, was driving and heard weird noise, got home and my slip yoke is starting to slip out of the trans. what could cause this? recently did an 8.8 swap and put deavers on, im positive everything was done correctly but wondering if i missed something. might switch up my shock mounting...
Ford still sells the larger slip yoke:
F6ZZ4841BA
The old slip yoke has been discontinued:
E8TZ4841F
To make the new slip yoke work, you need a conversion or "bastard" u-joint. I used the Moog 353 u joint. This allows you to retain the factory style slip yoke with the large dampener.
FYI I...

I recorded a video above so you can see what I am talking about.
I want to know if anyone has a picture of the inside of the slip joint. I am afraid that if I take this apart to investigate that it won't go back together. I am not prepared to drop some $$ to...
I have an 86 Ranger, losing a 2.9 & A4LD, getting a 302 & C4. It is 4x4 and I am using the original BW1350 transfer case. I have the following drive shafts at my command:
The bottom one is my original. The top one is from a 2003 exploder that is about the right length that I need at 47.5"...
I lost a bolt and nut on my center bearing at some point in the last week or so, and the nut came off the other one, but by some miracle nothing flew apart.
I had thought these bolts looked small when I was doing my clutch job, so just to verify, does anyone know what size/type bolt these...
Hey guys I was replacing my slave cylinder and clutch and I'm now putting the drive shaft back on. What is the torque specs on the drive shaft bolts, where the drive shaft meets the rear differential?
The truck is a 1993 ranger xlt with the 2.3l 5 speed
Thanks!
I have a 1985 Ranger 2WD 2.8L...what is the driveshaft length of a 2WD vs. a 4WD and are they interchangeable? Also, can an '87 tranny crossmember be used on an '85? The bolt holes look the same on-line, but ford's website gives every year a different part number even though they say 83-89 are...
This is for all you out there that have had weird noises when only in 4wd which can be described in many different ways.
I was experiencing sone clanking, grinding and just plain unawesome sounds when in 4wd, only when the transfer case was engaged. I have manual hubs and an auto 1354 transfer...
Okay. I have a 93 ranger 4.0L with AT. The trans took a dump so my brilliant cousin swaped it out for a used junk yard trans. It works but thats about all I can say for it. My biggest complaint is a vibration when the truck is somewhere between approx. 28-35 mph. Once beyond the 35 mark it is...
Hey guys,
I have stock a 87 bronco 2 5spd. The truck is making a weird clicking noise coming from the rear end but only upon acceleration and its pretty noticeable with the windows down. I think it might be the driveshaft?
What do you guys think? Anything helps.

I've got an 89 Bronco II, 2.9 with the Mitsubishi 5 speed transmission. I am attempting to replace the CV boots and repack the bearings. I am having trouble trying to get the CV joint apart to get the housing off. I don't see any "keys" holding it in place. What am I missing? Since the...
I have had a vibration and harshness problem for the past couple years and have been trying to chase it down. the vibration only shows up in 3,4, & 5th gears when accelerating or decelerating(using the engine as a brake). The noise is the loudest between 25-55 mph. The ranger is an extended...
Hey guys, I have to get this truck done today, and don't know what is going on. I'm installing a new pinion seal and I can't get the flange to pull flush. I have it on as tight as I could hand tighten it, and quickly hit it w/ an impact (not much cause I didn't think I should have to yet) and...
