So i ended up getting a used transmission disassembling drilling hole for pressure switch then reassembling. Then swapped with transmission in truck. I pulled trans apart(original) to inspect and it had shavings in pan from drilling hole so probably in valve body also.
I am having same problem. Just rebuilt the motor and did this conversion with similar results stay in 1st gear and will not upshift. if you put in 2nd gear it goes into 2nd and reverse works fine.
Finally starting to reassemble engine and was dismantling the rocker arm assemblies to clean and inspect. What I found was several oil holes clogged with 35 years of slug which resulted in worn spots on the rails. The rail are easy enough to replace although I was wondering about just rotating...
In the middle of rebuilding our 1985 2.8l. block is in machine shop and in the process of cleaning parts up for its return broke ear off of exhaust manifold removing old studs. Is there any source for headers still available or is the only option building our own?
Thank you for the response we ordered new coil should be in today will put it on in the morning. As far as the resistor are you referring to the duraspark II resistor or is the one currently installed on square coil ok?
We did the duraspark conversion over the weekend everything went good got truck running. Started the truck the next day while it was warming up it shut off now no spark. Only thing I didn't change was the tfi coil. is this coil ok to use or does this need to be swapped also?
Thanks for the responses. I guess I should have rolled the intake over before posting as those ports dont go anywhere so we installed new gasket as is.
