:icon_confused:What do I have to go through in doing this.:dunno: I've painted alot of metal but never any plastic.

First they're going to tell you to post in the correct section. Haha.
I would think you could just paint them... haha?

krylon fusion for plastics

what you'll wanna do is pick up Duplicolor adhesion promoter, then a primer, then the paint color you choose and a can of gloss clear. thats "if" you want to match them to the truck, if you want a simple color, then Krylon is the best bet.

Spray paint because its easier to touch up.

It's easy to touch up an automotive style single stage paint, especially if it is black......Krylon will obviously be cheaper and easier to apply if you don't have a paint gun though. Scuff up the plastic real well, using either steel wool or high grit sand paper (1000 grit or higher). Then wipe down the flares with rubbing alcohol to remove any grease or silicone. It really all depends on what kind of quality you are looking for, you can spray paint over mud and tar if you want, but it will look like shit and wont last long.......:icon_twisted:

Appliance paint is alot more durable

I would use the duplicolor spray on bedliner if you want to keep them black. Ive painted my rockers and my rims with the stuff and it holds up well and is easy to touch up.

I like that Idea spray on bed liner. How tough if the stuff in the aerosol can???

Pretty tough, It's been on there almost a year and I've only got one little spot to touch up on the door where it got hit when my son opened the door into steel pipe at a gas station.

The Krylon fusion, with the adhesion promoter works excellent. I did mine in satin black and they never faded. I did the flares, valance, bedrail caps, and my toolbox and they have held up for two years now with no problems. Mine are just the bare paint with no clearcoat over them, and it really has worked well.

SEM trim stuff works awesome to. lays good- easy to touch up...

just scuff up the plastic w/ steel wool, clean it good, clean it again, make sure its warm-ish when you do it. and just spray it.. i swear by SEM stuff at times.
