Kyle M's Ranger Rebuild

Are you running air or nitrogen in the shocks Kyle?

Good question. I think he's running nitrogen, but I wouldn't think nitrogen would change volume that much with temp. Unless you were like baja'n of course. I think the KOH guys were talking about the shocks pumping up, but they're driving conditions are a bit different.

They're overheating them, building pressure etc. I was hoping temps weren't gonna be an issue as we get drastic temperature changes up here...

prolly not the nitrogen changing with temp it's the oil. similar to dirtbike fork's acting different at different temp's once the fork's start workin a little everything return's to norm.

Acting different but not changing ride height... Paging Kyle!

Nitrogen. When it gets warmer out there less change, but it is only about 1" from cold to warm.

If you build it, you will have one....

Alright, anyway, I finally finished my bump stops up front so I don't have to worry about hurting my shocks.

Should get the job done. I built little pads for them to hit too, you can kinda see em.

I also ordered up another limit strap for the center of the front axle to keep from unloading and ordered the brackets from ruffstuff for the anti wrap bar. Even after the long spring perches and removing the block, I still axle wrap. I was, and still might build a driveshaft skid, but I was going to make it a anti wrap too, but decided to just be cool like everyone else and get the ruffstuff kit. Hope to have all that in the next week before I go to Attica.

sweet action. those are just the universal thread in style I take it?

Yes, universals that I had laying here from before. Not really my first choice, but I had em and the tube.

Too bad they look like big limp wieners.

LOL, some have said that.

Did a little more today, gusseted the rear spring hangers, not a good picture, but I tied it into the frame better up the side.

Trimmed the rear quarters behind the tires, they were getting really beat up and I didn't like how it looked around where the bumper should be. So I modified it a little...

Then I removed the front crossmember that was there to protect the steering. I figure if I get inot enough trouble that that is saving something, I am screwed anyway. Took a whole 3 min to remove, it was barley welded on.

Then I decided to tint the front lights a little, so they would match the rear. I like the look.
