actually,i just realised what you meant.what i was thinking was just drive the front of the crank on one motor from the back of the crank on the other-essentially making a v-16.

this is the mind game i've been playing for the last little while.

well then dooo it you have an extra 460. and its not like your springs live there anymore. you would just have to change your roll cage a bit

no....well,it all depends on point of view.they actually turn the same direction.but if you look at the front driveshaft from the front diff's input,it's going counter-clockwise when the rear shaft viewed from the rear pinion is going clockwise.

it's the same as if you have a clock with a glass face...when viewed from behind the hands turn counter clockwise.even though their direction never changes.

I think I would just stick the second motor in the original engine bay, and just run a straight driveshaft through to the crank pulley on the rear motor. it would be set up just like the big tractor pull trucks. and if you put a ratchet mechanism in the shaft you could run just the rear one.

Thats basically what i meant, just with a t case between them, that way you could balance the truck out a little better

what i was thinking of is actually a bit more complicated.rather than having the two engines remotely located,i'd actually attach them together,making one large,long lump.

just think of the headers i could build for it

yes,this has it's practical merits,but don't you think an actual v16 would be way cool?

besides,balance is way overrated.i've been unbalanced for years and it's not hurting me any

I absolutely love the v16 idea! You've already got a wheely machine, almost two, why not build an endo machine?

what about in gm or dodge or other companies? do any of them have a transfercase that might work by switching it around to make it work?

what about putting a citreon motor, instead of making one turn backwards... or, custom camshaft grinding, and fancy spark plug wiring, the only thing you need then is to make the starter turn backwards... reverse polarity?

a smart guy like you, you can turn your own cam shafts, can't you? it doesn't even have to work well, just run, because you've atleast made it work well, but building it off of a stock cam would be fairly easy, just record the journal profile and swing it to a different place on the shaft

Yes, with the exception of the countershaft in the transmissions and t-cases (though i dont think its called a countershaft in a t-case)

yes,actually it does.this is why a chain drive case doesn't need an idler,but a gear drive one does.

two gears meshed will turn opposite directions,a third will goe the same direction as the first.this is the arrangement of the front and rear outputs on any gear drive case.

two sprockets joined by a chain will go the same direction,this is how the front and rear outputs on any chain drive case are arranged.

hmmm, i understood all of that, except i thought they used an idler or something, to make the front shaft turn backwards, on a chain setup, and didn't know they used an idler on a gear drive...

theoretically,that wouldn't even need to be done.

whern the allison engines in the p 38 were made to run opposite directions in WW II only the firing order was changed.the starter can be made to face the other direction by modifying the bell housing,and that just leaves some oil pump mods and other details.

something more would have to change other than that... otherwise you would have your exhaust coming out the intake, and intake coming in through the exhaust...
