My Bronco 2

4.88 would be better suited to 35's. I'm rockin' 4.56(for the time being...) with a 2.9 and 35's, and it definitely is manageable on the road, but I wish I'd have gone 4.88... ah well, skipping that and up to 5.13! lol
For you, with a 4.0, would likely be good with 4.56 all the way up to a 37" tire... off-road that is. On road, 4.56 and 37's would maybe give ya some grief with an auto. But with 33's, it should be about perfect!

yeah, i forgot about the 4.56 option...lol.
that's probably the way i should go.

4.56's cost more than 4.10's or 4.88's. that's weird..
how would 4.56's and 33's be on road? i'm just worried about my mpg's dropping down way to much... a lot of my driving is city so the lower gears would turn the tires from a redlight easier.. so would i just need to keep my speed down otherwise? lol

my plan was 4.56 with 33s :dunno:

but how much difference is there from 4.56's to 4.88's?? how much can that .32 change the overall highway speed rpms? it'd be a good bit different than the 3.73's i'm used to tho :thefinger:

that i do not know. i just know im running 4.56 (for now) in the samurai on 33s and its perfect. and everyone i asked about my ranger and what i got from the gear after tire change calculator in the tech library was to go to 4.56. i was on 3.73 with 33s and a 4.0 for a good month or 2 b4 i flipped the truck and i was gettign 450km to a tank and still could do brake stands lol

idk what 450km is... i'm american! lol...

oh...280 miles ok. google told me! that's not bad...

Hey what tranny is in there, A4LD?

I went ahead and took the liberty of determining your engine RPM at 65MPH with different ratios/tire size, based on the final drive ratio of .75 on an A4LD.

33's
RPM@65MPH/4.10 = 2035 RPM
RPM@65MPH/4.56 = 2263 RPM
RPM@65MPH/4.88 = 2422 RPM

35's
RPM@65MPH/4.56 = 2134 RPM
RPM@65MPH/4.88 = 2284 RPM

two thing's conflicting here. big tire's a good mpg's do not often go hand in hand (certainley not in the city) and good ratio for off road isnt necissarly a good ratio for on road (highway) kinda the reasone i'm NOT goin with 5.13's now. i'm gonna run in the ballpark of 4.56 when i get a chance, and lookin at buildin a doubler for offroad. also lookin at the 2.5-4.0 hybrid M5od as it only lowers your 1st and 2nd gear's IIRC.

yeah. i'm thinking 4.56's, i know i can't have it all.. good mileage and good low gear and good city highway. i'm asking to much i know. but i'm hoping for the best possible mix of the list above. understand? lol.

just called Rusty's offroad- and a person answered the phone.. not a computer system!

but just their long arms are $460.00
-OR-
i have an offer on arms and stuff being made custom for $800 and that includes the track bar bracket and track bar (as well as the long arms and frame mounts). i think he is gonna weld up the steering to, but i have to buy the johnny joints and heims. which makes me wonder what size joints i really need? what size heims? i've been told 2 different sizes (very different)

kroussinoffroad sent me his measurements of joints but idk where that PM went.. hm...

which joints do y'all recommend? currie? trail-gear's creeper joints?

man i missed alot real quick haha but yea my truck had 483'000 km (300'123miles) on it when i rolled it and had maybe 3000km (1800 miles) on it it with the 33s. and that # was consistant. now then again that was always driving normal if i drove like an idiot itd drop to 250km a tank (155 miles)

1.25x12 THR flex joint (2.5) is what is installed in the arm.

800 for the done deal is pretty good price,
however if I were to redo it all over I wouldnt change a thing.
