Then you'll be bored thinking to yourself "Damn, I need something more challenging...like my GT12 project"

you could finish off that expo monster with the rear steer! :D:D:D:D:D

funny thing...i was just booting around the yard with it.i hadn't started it in a while, and i needed to tear up some snow so the firewood guy can get in tomorrow,so some towels on the seat and i was ready for destruction:headbang:

damn,that rear steer is fun:D

once i'm done with some of these things i can challenge myself by driving them:icon_thumby:

today i was doing a variety of things.i patched up some gaps in the header, but i couldn't weld it up as i'm running real low on argon, and i have a welding job for tomorrow morning that will use up the bit i have left.i can get more after that.

i also spent some time doing sheet metal welding.i have what seems like miles of seams on the hood to get done,so i'll pick away at them as i can.

i also ran some more brake lines...the ones that go from the tees to the master were bent and fitted up.

here's the other end.

another thing i was looking at was how i'd be fitting an alternator onto this.while i'd preferr to keep the space between the heads open,it's the only space free for this lump to live in.

lookin good doc!

Do you do anything to dress the seams on the inside of the tubes. Seems to me like every seam would cause turbulance/disrupt flow or pulse or something.

The other possibility is i am talking out of my a§§....

this is always a consideration.and it's part of the reason i tig weld all my header seams.it keeps the inside as smooth as can be hoped for.

is that engine set up for V-belts?

yup.the alternator pulley will be swapped for a v-belt one.i'd like flat belt, but getting pulleys for this engine would be difficult, and at this point i just want to go with the easier option.

agreed that it would be easier to go with the v belt setup, but Serpentine setups look alot cleaner IMO. but anywhos, keep on keepin on :headbang:

is there going to be enough room for however many v-belts you are using?

i forget what it said umpteen pages ago, but you are using power steering right? i remember the rack out of the bmw, but i couldn't remember if you said you were keeping power or not

no power steering...the alternator and the water pump are all that needs to be driven.

serpentine may make it on at a later date.right now it's just about getting it done.

i've got to wait a couple of days for argon so i can get the headers done,so i did some more surgery on the hood.i cut out the headlight flanges in preparation to french them back.i also ground down the welds on the patch beside the headlight.

i don't want to go too deep with the headlights,i figure 1 1/4'' will be good.this will get it far enough in that they will be out of the way of the covers, and the chrome ring will still be visible.
