A friend bought his son a Fender tube type guitar amplifier used (I believe off of Craig's List). He said the amplifier always has "static" in it, and asked
me to check it out.

I checked it out today, and what I found was a manufacturing defect. Three of the four signals in a flat cable going to one of the output tubes (push-pull) were
never soldered to the tube PCB when it was manufactured. The three wires were laying against the chassis, which was causing the "static". As you can see
from the PCB solder joints, the wires were never soldered:

If you can get it to me, I'll be happy to take a look at it. With the weight, it might be expensive to ship both ways. This is a hobby, just like my photography, so there will be no charge. Have you checked the obvious stuff like fuses?

Yep.....all you can hear is thump.......thump........thump....
Its a 250 watt 2-12 that would shake the house when I put in Saving Private Ryan.lol!
It is VERY heavy..........What if I pulled the board out and sent that to you?
Im serious about fixing this thing and would gladly pay you for your time.I hate to junk it.I will look up the model # tomm. and send you some pics if thats ok.

I do this as a hobby, so I can't charge. Good idea on only sending the amp board. Do you have any way of hooking the speaker up to another amp? It would be good to determine your problem isn't a fried voice coil on the speaker.

Sure, pics and information would be good.

Voice coils are good, sure of that.
Ill pull the board out tomm. and take some pics.
Its a pretty nice unit.........adj freq......phase reverse......one front loading and one bottom.
Thanks for any help you can give me on this.
