So, i was wondering this today.

I don't "hate" bands, or any particular style/genre of music. If I don't care for them, or it, I simply don't listen to it. Too much stuff I do like to listen to, to worry about the stuff I don't.

There are several bands I have every release of, because they have yet to come out with a song that I don't like. AC/DC, KISS, W.A.S.P., Great White, Metallica, Poison....to name a few. I've got all of Kid Rock, too....it's interesting to hear how his music's evolved over the years. About the only "new" band I am into to that extent is Nickelback, because they have that "old-school" hard rock sound.

My tastes run from country to classical, though. Blues, bluegrass, and Cajun Zydeco are in there, too.

The question I have about the "new" artists is: Doesn't anyone go "on tour" anymore? The Black-Eyed Peas came through town a while back, but that's about it. How do bands get out there? TV and the Web, alone? To me, that's not earning your place in the business. But, I guess if it works it works.

Cover songs, if done well, are cool in my view. I like hearing different spins on songs. Dolly Parton does a lot of covers of rock songs (Train, Train for one); W.A.S.P. has done very faithful (but much harder-edged) covers of The Who, Queen, and Humble Pie.

I got hooked on Sara Evans because she's hot, and has a dynamite voice; same with Orianthi (not to mention being a killer guitarist!). Sugarland used to be good......for about one CD. Once they got "Bon-Jovi-itis", this last CD kind of lost the country feel. Kind of like Sammy Hagar before VH...he used to rock, and rock hard. Now, not so much. I'm not saying he sucks, but his edge was lost after VH.

I play guitar. I have for many years.

I find those bands to be very unexciting to learn. Or even practice with. Music after the 80s took a dive in quality and talent. That kind of started with Kurt Cobain. Axle Rose with Guns N Roses was one of the last great rock bands before the end came. Axle was a far, far more talented vocalist in my opinion, his range is generally unmet by most newer artists. Vocals don't only make a good singer, the lyrical structure of most modern songs is very basic compared to previous generations of music, the songs have like half the words sometimes, much less complex in general. Most songs don't even have real solos anymore.

Back in the day, some guitarists were better known than the singers, there's no real guitarists that are super popular anymore.

I decided to, for the first time learn a pop song last month. I learned poker face on guitar, by the time I was halfway done, I said to myself "Jesus, could this song be any less complex and repetitive. Someone who got a guitar last week could learn to play it.

I don't only listen to 80s music, I have love blues, I mean LOVE IT. I love country to a lesser extent. I have tons of different tastes in music. I like Katy Perry ;)

If you want to learn an instrument, imo there's no point in studying modern, popular artists if you want to be good.

I all time favorite kid rock album is prodigal son, I like his newer stuff, not as much as his old stuff though.

Dragon Force.

if you have an android phone you can download vlingo and it will do the typing for you. all you gotta do is talk.

I have 2 CD's that I listen to.

August Burns Red - Messengers, and Constellations.

Every other band in this whole world sucks a big hairy viking dick.

anyways, i listen to 99% of music, i absolutely hate country, with a few exceptions... johnny cash, some people think he's country

Well, according to country music stars Big & Rich, "Rock and Roll used to be about Johnny Cash".

i hate the mayority of those new bands/singers because the music they make sucks imo.
the same reason because i hate some old or already famous singers/groups too.
