I'm not asking on how to hook them up, all I'm asking about is where you can find them buggers. There is a few things I'd like to be able to delay turning off on my truck (dome light, fog lights, etc) and maybe even have the radio stay on after the ignition is turned off and the key removed like on newer vehicles. I know you can get them used, but would prefer to get brand new ones. Thanks guys.

This is where I got the idea from:

All you need to do is put an electrolytic condenser across the coil of the relay. the higher the value the longer the relay will stay energized.

Wow never though of that like delay wipers only backwards.

Whoa - that's pretty cool. I didn't know anybody made those. A little pricy, but cool.

exactly. and its way cheapier :icon_thumby:

You can make the delay adjustable by putting a wire-wound pot. across the condenser.

Hello

I just wire my cd player to my battery direct. The only problem don't get too drunk and leave it on over nite. I started doing that over 20 years ago so the cops could not bust me for impaired driving. No keys found, no charge laid. I still do it to this day.

Where might you be able to find something like this?

any electronics shop should have them
Time delay relays and where to buy them?

remember to use 12V ones. the bigger the micro farad number the longer it will mantain charge. wiring them is really simple. just connect to ground the side with the stripe painted on

The relay coil has too low of a resistance for using just a capacitor to create a time delay. Unless you use a 1 Farad super capacitor which would have a huge surge current to turn it on. You would need a transistor or FET to amplify or isolate the time delay resistor/capacitor timing, and a diode or 2 is needed also.
