Crappy slave cylinders

That is AWESOME, every one I've ever seen is just wide open to contamination, no wonder I always have problems, I guarantee its from sand/mud/water getting into it and with all the friction just breaking the seal. I'm going to see if I can get that one.

i just replaced my slave....it prolly only needed to be bled but i was doin the clutch and figured wut the hell and havent had a problem and i abused it in the desert and sank it in a puddle or 2 with the original ford one and i got the one from napa as a replacement and so far my wife hasnt had a problem........dunno how true that is though haha.

Just got back from napa, ended up paying full price, my friend with the account there called me back as I was getting in the truck.(I called him for his account#). I can't believe the difference in quality compared to the junk I was getting from other stores. Hope this one treats me right. Thanks guys!

Dont know about other dealerships, but at my local Ford parts counter, the slave they sell is a Dorman unit. I found that one of the local parts stores (Partsource) sells the EXACT Dorman slave, same numbers and all, for 70$ cheaper.

Had good luck with Dorman slaves....

I bought mine at the dealer, but its an actual Ford part, newest version they have, cost $113 plus tax, but considering its the weakest part of our clutches and a pain to change, it's worth it to spend a bit more on it considering its a day in your garage or $500 to have a shop do it lol. Too many horror stories around here to go for a cheaper part.

BTW the new Ford part is made in USA, the original slave was made in France. Where are these aftermarket slaves made? I wonder if some of the aftermarkets are the same as the OEM part, it'd be nice to have an easy return and warranty policy but with the same quality as OEM.

The NAPA is identical to the Perfection part from Advance Auto. Interestingly, the bearing that came with my LUK clutch looks like the Perfection bearing, but it is different from the bearings that comes on the Ford parts, even though LUK makes the slaves for Fords.

I've had the same problem. Probably on my 5th one. Seems the fluid is starting to go low again so I'll be following this thread.

I think I'd shoot my truck if I had to put a new slave in every year.

Yeah, and its suppose to help for preventive measure too, but even that hasn't worked so far...

So to those of us that replaced with dorman slaves, I understand they carry a lifetime warranty. That said has anyone ever asked the dorman company if they could take it to a tranny shop have them install the slave and the dorman company pay for it? Its just cuz I dont got much time and its pretty cold here lol. Also would it be crazy to ask for my money back for my money back for the bad dorman slave and buy a better brand? The slave cost close to 100$ at partsource.

I just replaced the slave cylinder in my buddy's 88 Ranger 2.9 4wd. We got the cylinder from Advance I believe. While bleeding the clutch, it began leaking already! So very frustrating because now I have to take everything back apart and replace it with a Motorcraft part.

My friend got a quote yesterday from the local dealership of around $170 for a Motorcraft slave cylinder. I've looked around a few websites that sell Motorcraft parts but can't seem to find anywhere that sells this part. Anybody have any suggestions?

unless the slave was installed by a ASE certified mechanic at the shop u have no warranty, as is the case with all parts from advance auto/autozone just gotta read the fine print to see how they can and will screw u

Its hard to find one like these for my 94 ranger. Looks like the only one I can find is by Perfection Clutch, part # 360016, available at advance auto.

That is a picture of the Perfection slave. I just bought one at Advance this week and it is identical. If you look close at the pic, the disconnect tool says "Perfection Clutch" on it, at least to me it does at 4am, lol.
