So I have a question, I have a 2010 Mazda B4000, that is marketed with 4.10 gearing my axle code on the door is a 96. In the tech library the 96 ranger axle shows as having 3.73 gears. Could the factory installed the wrong gearing or the wrong label? Or is the Tech Library wrong?

they have several gears each year. 96 rangers dont just have 3.73. they have a bunch of dif stuff.

and as for the door sticker...... somethings not right here. maybe read it wrong? i have never seen them mess up a sticker like that

I would suggest taking a look at the tag on the axle itself. Then maybe just to confirm, jack ONE rear tire off the ground and give it exactly TWO complete rotations while counting how many turns of the driveshaft (3¾ turns = 3.73, a hair more than 4 turns = 4.10)

what hes saying is his door say axle code 96 and his truck ad says 4.10. id go with the door. sales guys can often be wrong. but with a 4.0 you wont notice a difference.

Hook me up with your vin and I can try to pull it up through Ford's system. I dunno if it will bring it back with a Mazda, but I'll try.

thats true. some even lie to make a product look better. once this guy told me a V6 dakota i was looking had a rotary engine... :icon_rofl:

he said that the truck belonged to a known car racer, so to make it more intresting he said that the guy swapped the v6 for a rotar-2 mazda engine.
it was obviously a lie since the damn thing was complelty stock

I can look up most Mazda's, B trucks and Tributes look up perfectly on Microcat.

I will get my vin tomorrow for you guys, thanks for the help. To clarify...
Mazda's brochure state's that all B4000's come with 4.10 gears. Would I even feel a difference if the wrongs gearing was in? How about fuel economy?

3.73 to 4.10 with stock tires is basically unnoticeable. You can trust me on this. I've driven enough Rangers through work haha.

Mircocat isn't as picky as the OASIS system.

OASIS doesn't recognize some Mazdas as being built by Ford. :icon_confused: Makes no sense to me. If I can look up the shop manual on PTS, I should be able to run OASIS.

3.73-4.10 is about 500 rpms difference at highway speeds. Its noticable.

Just look at the axle tag. Takes a light (phone), 50 seconds, and some dirt on your t-shirt.

So VIN is...

4F4LY4HE6APM01811

Teddyzee where is the axle tag your referring too? this is my first truck so I'm not sure of most things.
