Full width, what leaves to use??

Well i decided im going to find some d60's(at least a d44 front), and going to go full width. got the ok from my g/f that as long as i keep it low i can do it.
so im wanting to run leaves, tire size will prolly be 35's-37's. im only wanting about 4" lift over stock, and im going to cut the fenders to gain the rest of the clearance i need.

should i go with the shackle in the front so i can keep it low, or should i go with a shackle reversal set up? also i really liked my jeep with d60's and waggy springs in the front that extended my wheelbase, but didnt run them in the back...but i want to move the front axle forward about 2" and the rear about 2-4" and do a comp style cut. im stumped on which springs to go with. i want it soft for flex, but not so soft where it has bad street manners. next year ill be gettin a tow rig, so it wont be a dd all that much.

anybody have any suggestions?

i got a good source on some 60's out of a 79 ford, and i just started a new job, so ill have some $$ to get this project going. hopefully i can have everything ready to start by christmas time

Honestly for the lift you are doing, there is no point in moving the axle, or switching to leaves. I would stick with coils in the front on your d44. You can do f150 coils in the stock buckets with f150 retainers for 2 inches and coil spacers for another 2 inches. Theres your 4 for lessthan 100 bux, and for the rear you can go with the 64" chevy leaves, or expo leaves with a drop shackle, cant beat that for a budget build. You wil also save alot of money this way that can be put to good use prepping your axles or buying lockers etc.

i got to searching and looking around, im going to keep the stock wheelbase but im pretty set on running leaves up front, because i can get a set for next to nothing. how do the yj springs ride in a b2?

i really like how they have this set up, and this is what im going for except i want leaves and it to sit about 3-4" lower

you realize that it will be alot of fabbing to put leaves in and you have to strengthen the frame upfront and make a new crossmember. you can get the coils for the 150 outta a junkyard and the spacers you can make on you own. so it will be around 26 bucks for front suspension so you dont have to take out the coil buckets and all. just make the front work with what you already have you will be way more happy with coils, they ride alot nicer.

will the f150 coils still net me alot of flex, or will they be kinda stiff? what year f150 do i get them out of?

your in macon huh? Im in peirce co. I'm turning my turbo 2.5L 99 ranger into a mud/hunting truck.

I already have my case(205) and D60/14 axles. But I would like another D60 to have laying around. You know where anymore is up your way? I cant find anything in my parts.

fab work aint no problem, ive got mad skillz, and access to all the tools i need, mig+argon, tig, arc, plasma cutters, torches, benders, notches(my buddy works at a fab type shop, just not automotive). i went f/w on my 95 yj i had and are doing it in my buddy's cj5. i just want to have a good setup for a little of everything, mud, rocks, trails, and some street usage, i wannt keep it low and clean fab work. the axles ill have access to are already set up for leaves, so if i kept my coil setup i would prolly go with XJ RELA's (radius arm style), and use maybe an eb spring. so the question is i saw jd makes upper buckets for the EB spring, so what would i do about lower mounts? where can i get those to weld on my axle? i dont like the EB bushing type radius arms, and i can get some re xj arms for next to nothing from a buddy. i guess i could use a poly performance uni track bar bracket and mod it however to keep the angles right.

EDIT: i just saw jd's lower coil bucket, and noticed it goes on top of the radius arms, could i make a leaf perch looking deal to weld on the axle to mount the lower bucket on? i dont see why that wouldnt work?

you dont want it to sit lower....you want the tops of the fenders left on where they are cut so high..



open up those wells and that would be fine with 40's and overall height.

when i put the full width d44 and ford 9" under my b2 years ago i use the stock 79 f150 coils up front mounted in the B2 buckets and made customs mounts for the axle and used the f150 leaves and all the mounting points and it gave me 5" of lift over the stock suspension and it flex really well in the back and took a bit of time for the front to start flexing well...by the sounds of it you have a whole parts truck there with all the parts you need!!

I would go with a coil set up on the front, all you need to do is get a set of pre79 radius arms with the mounts and a set of weld on wedges from jeffs bronco or any bronco place!!

this is my new rig, dose not have the wieght of the b2 in the back so the rear dose not flex as good now as it did with the b2 body on it.
