installing key less entry in manual 93-97 doors

This is the one I got.Any way to hook up the inside lights like you guys did?The white wire is used in this kit.

hmmm, what is the white wire used for?

get a volt meter, and test each wire thats not used, when you hit the lock unlock button

so is their any chance of this going into the library? just wondering. i think it would be really useful for anybody wanting keyless entry and not knowing where to start. i know that this is the best 100dollars i ever spent.

good write up...but this is what we used to call keyless entry back home :D

for those people with no power anything, or an alarm i suggest getting a nice alarm and a door actuator kit. not exactly from where OP posted his link. for around $100 you can have a sweet alarm with remote start (might need PATS bypass module) and a door lock acuator kit. here is a link to two great deals and what i just installed in my 02 edge.
links:
alarm:

actuator kit:
http://cgi.ebay.com/CENTRAL-LOCKING-POWER-DOOR-LOCK-KIT-2-DOORS-/370111783281?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0

for the central locking kit i opted to not install a switch as i only have two doors. when the driver door latch is pulled the passenger unlocks, so much like a switch :) total install time was 4 hours for everything

I bought an aftermarket Ford alarm (made by Code Alarm) NIB on Ebay for 25 bucks. Then I bought the door actuators at 3 bucks a piece and 5 relays with harnesses for another 10 bucks (only needed 2 for the install though). It was really easy considering it was my first alarm install. I used the schematic provided in the alarm box and www.the12volt.com for relay configuration. I used a negative trigger. I took some pics, but decided not to post them when I found out I had mounted my lock solenoids in what I thought was an ingenious spot. Turns out, it's where one of the "hooks" that hold the door panel on is supposed to go. So I just cut that hook off both panels, and it had no adverse affect. Just not exactly orthodox I guess, LOL.

That's awesome, About two weeks ago I had put in a Alarm/ Key-less entry system I had got from a good friend that Ive delt with for many of years.
He has always got me what I needed and then some. any who...... I had placed my actuators in the sam place, it made sense at the time, tho it didn't dawn on me why there was this square hole till after mounting the first one and then looking at the door panel. :icon_rofl: .

needless to say both door panels are missing a hook now.. :dunno:

So your not alone on that one.

He has been talking to me about adding some power windows to the truck, but its not realy on the to do list.

Yep same kit, and its the white wire in step 18

It only took me like 3-4 hrs, what took the longest was running the wires behind my dash and under my carpet but it wasn't hard and was worth it.

I'm glad to see this (albeit a month and a half later) and see someone else had the same great idea I had. My only issue with this thing so far is I set the jumpers to lock the doors when the truck gets started. Well, the other night at work I started my truck with the door open and then got out of the truck to brush the snow off. Needless to say, I shut the door and found out I had locked my keys inside =(. Good thing we have stuff at work to make a slim jim.

The truck comes with a slim jim attached to the right fender :D
