The gun thread...

I figured I just read it wrong. That is why I asked. My first inclination was to get fired up. Damnit! I'm growing up! I swore I would never do that!!!:annoyed:

In the beginning..........feeln used to fire me up about 6....no......7 times a week........:icon_rofl:

I want a 50 soooo bad. I just can't justify the cost!!!

1. :icon_surprised:

2. Is a flame suppressor being used on that cannon?

3. Is his elbows and butt super-glued to the table/chair?

4. Why do you want one so bad....you got some trees you wanna knock down fast?

1. Yea, really!
2. It has a muzzle brake but I doubt that has anything to do with blast supression!

3. I have been told by those who shoot the 50's they don't so much "kick" as "shove" real hard. Evidently, the recoil is pretty manageable.
4. I want to be able to knock down alien spacecraft in orbit!

1.:shok:

2. Yes is has a flash suppressor. But that is a relative term on a .50 cal.

3. No he aint glued down, it is known as the recoilless rifle. The setup of everything on the gun is designed to give opposite force to hte recoil, such as the muzzle blast being directed to the rear essentially pushing the weapon forward and softening the recoil.

4. Why the fawk wouldnt you want one? Go to youtube and watch the vids of gopher plinking with a .50 cal :icon_rofl: :icon_rofl: :icon_rofl: :icon_rofl: :icon_rofl:

I remember that. lol

I just read your post about sleeping with your rifle, and that reason right there is why I never kept my gun in my bed, It was the one place I forced myself to be without it. I would have shot my own head or my wife one. And when the kids were there I never kepta loaded gun in the house until I got my safe. I didnt hide it from them, just didnt expose them to it. She left before I could start teaching my boys proper gun safety. But I would have given the chance.

"When a student is fully taught, he will be just like his teacher".....therefore; I yanked your chain about needing to cut some trees down in a hurry....LOL.....that rifle gots 1 flaw---it would give you away from 4 miles away the first time you fired it....especially if you had to run thru the flames of the bushes burning down around you after you pu....errr.squeezed the trigger!!!

As far as my kids....i was still to crazy....i brought my daughter into the bedroom....showed her the rifle on the bed (my wife made me move it out of the living room after a while).....and calmly as I could told her..........

Don't you EVER touch it!!!!!!!!

my wife spent a couple years weaning me off the rifle until I was able to put it in the nearest closet when I was home....

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh......combat........ aint it grate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

EDIT: that upper .50/lower AR15 is nizzzze!

For a 50 cal that's only a couple thousand bucks, the only one I'd go with is the Armalite AR50. They're about 3k a piece, and are very nice. The recoil is like 12 gauge slugs with the huge muzzle break. Not bad really.

Now if I had 10k to blow on one, the M107 Barrett would be my #1 choice. 10 round semi auto 50 Cal. Can't beat it....unless Ma deuce is involved...

My .50 retailed for about $150 brand new... shoots nice too. :icon_thumby:

H&R Sidekick muzzleloader :D

Got some range time in today. Shot the springfield at 300 yards for the first time. Out of 15 shots I got 5 hits. The first 5 were total misses, still had the sights set at 100 yards (wanted to see if it'd even hit paper at that range without adjusting them). Next 10 were with sights set at 300. Managed 3 hits out of the first 5 shot adjusted group, and 2 from the last. All shots landed lower and to the left of dead center. I was kinda suprised to even hit paper, it's been a long time since i've shot at 300 yards, and it's never been with this rifle. Next time I'm going to dial each rifle in at that 300 yards and hopefully make some decent groups. Today was just a play day.

One landed in the black, 2 others in the 5. One outside the 5 a little more, and one right on the edge of the paper. All shots were to the lower left.

That tiny little speck down there....yeah...that's my target. The front sight post blocks it.

Not bad with open sights and no spotter! Those targets are pretty small and it is hard to make corrections when you don't know where your point of impact is. I love being spotter and watching the round arc downrange.
