OK ill be the first to admit im getting to be a grumpy old curmudgeon, amd things irritate me sometimes more than they should but this kind of irked me and id like your opinions on this and perhaps you could even do what im going to do.....

I walked into two seperate "Cracker Barrel" restaurants this weekend in two different states and found Christmas trees and a whole large display of christmas merchandise for sale. While im not a fan of christmas, I certainly understand that this is a retail holiday in which retailers make perhaps their biggest chunk of change for the year, and having christmas displays is a necessity. I do however think that the holiday season should start AFTER THANKSGIVING!!!!! These corporate retailer leaches also had haloween stuff and thanksgiving stuff out for sale

Today , the manager came up to me while I was eating and asked me if i was enjoying my meal and my visit to the cracker barrel and without skipping a beat I said to him that perhaps there should be a roaring fire in the fireplace despite that its almost 90 degrees outand the end of July.. the manager looked bewildered and i then said it would go along real nice with the holiday spirit of the christmas tree and the holiday stuff they were hawking in the front of the store.
The manager replied that its corporates decision and they have to have this stuff on display as corporate has made this decision and its beyond the stores control.
First off am I wrong in my sentiments about the holidays and the merchandising starting WAY to early and how do you all feel about this?
How about we all send an email to cracker barrel ( www.crackerbarrel.com) and tell them enough already!! have your holiday merchandise in the holiday season!!

Christmas stuff shouldn't be in stores until the end of November, just like Halloween stuff shouldn't be in stores until the end of September.

Yea, 1 month before seems a good time frame to me. I agree with you, I hate everything under the sun being sold like its worth its weight in gold. I work in a large retail store (I'm an archery tech), and I sell a lot less bows and accessories then some of my colleagues, simply because I'm honest about the quality and performance of everything in the store. I refuse to sell someone junk without letting them know what their buying.
But its easily worth it when you have customers come in and ask for you by name to work on their bow, or base a large part of their decisions on what you recommend.

And back-to-school sales shouldn't start until the end of July. I was in my local WalMart around July 10th and already say back to school stuff out.

If retailers really MUST push the envelope of Christmas stuff, I won't get ticked about it being up a week before Thanksgiving.

ummm, cause cracker barrel wants to make money, just like every other retail store. they know that all these grandma's are gonna come in, look around their store and buy the xmas stuff. and little kids are gonna come in and pester their parents to buy them a new vampire trapper keeper. i think it's stupid too, but i just ignore it

Darn, where have you been? This has been happening for so many years jow!!! Nothing new. We buy Christmas stuff in July every year here in Florida. Sales start at this time frame at a lot of places. You need to chill out, Bro....lol

Buy me a gift from Crackle Barrell...I love that place!!!!!!

Maybe its just a Christmas in July thing that will be gone at the end of the month. Lots of places do that. It is kind of weird seeing that stuff in the middle of summer though.

Imagine how those in Austraila feel when they see snow December.

I hate how stores do that too..... christmas stuff is out right after halloween pretty much. and some stores stop selling christmas stuff 3 days before christmas! now thats annoying!

Cracker Barrels are designed and placed to appeal to people going on trips or vacation. And for some reason people buy a lot of stupid shit when they're on vacation.

When I worked at a large sporting goods store they started with xmas music before thanksgivin and it was the sam 5-6 songs done by 100 diffrent people that sucked I hated it not Xmas but the same damn songs over and over even 2 weeks after xmas they still played it :dunno:

It seems like all their selling dates are goofy. They don't sell fireworks till like a week before... pretty lame if you ask me... I'd like my fireworks 4 months before. They do it for Halloween and other days, why not the 4th of July?

Christmas music bothers the hell out of me, I refuse to listen to it... I really wish they wouldn't play it on the radio, at least on the regular stations anyway...

Its not out too early, They are most likely trying to blow out all the christmas stuff now, as a last ditch effort to making some money instead of trashing it all for next years new product. Most retailers do their after season "sales" and then throughout the year try to blow out the rest of the product at rediculous prices, If they sell anything at all right now its that much money they arent losing on it. But no I agree, they should be sellign Roman candle and M80 leftovers(I know m80's are illegal, couldnt think of another firecracker name right off)

Nail on the head man. I used to work for Crack-whore Barrel (and yes I have my own issues with them, but this is neither the time, place, nor forum), and they play up the Christmas in July thing pretty big.
