Thanks for the info, as I may offer him a lower price, in regard to your reply.

Do holes need to be drilled for mounting it?

Or, do you use the bumper mounting bolts that fasten to the frame to hold the brush gaurd on, too?

Is this a commom style brush gaurd?

Or, are there nicer looking ones?

ive seen a good bit o 80's rangers have this style of guard and they look pretty good. there are nicer ones but or with a little work you will save yourself $$ to spend on something else. and to mound it can be mounted eather way though it looks to be mounted where the bumper guards go which is really easy mounting

the guard looks like it mounts exactly where the 2 plastic guards are on the bumper in the pic, just eather replace or drill holes

If you dont have a sand blaster thats gonna be a bear to paint.....cant prep that mesh right without one. I wouldnt pay more then 30. I just bought one coated with a plastic and with 2 fog lights for 50.

$50 seems fair to me, offer $40 and see where it gets ya. Doesn't hurt to offer.

Also, I've found a way around sandblasters......4.5" wire wheel on an angle grinder. 9/10 it works great, powder coating is a challenge, but it works well on paint.

Aint worth very much, and its a lousy grille guard, it just bolts into the bumper, isn't going to help you much if you hit something... Most decent grille guards attach to the frame.

As far as painting goes... just do what Ranger44 said, and use a grinder, then go down to a local farm store of some sort, and get some bed liner in a spray can, should be more durable than regular paint.

on the 1st gen's, the bumpers are bolted into the frame horns. if it matches up to the bumper bolts it should be fine, imho. mounted my push bar with longer bolts thru the bumper and into the same holes in the frame. seems stout enough to me.

I got a few expensive ones around me on CL that go for 125 in basically new condition.
