Hell Yeah!!!!!

Every time I go to visit my parents in California, I see this '69 Mustang Sports Roof (fastback) that sits in the neighbors' driveway It's very original, dark green (I think they called the color "Black Jade"), has a 351 (with hood scoop) and looks untouched. Even as it sits the lines just look so good and it oozes potential. I should stop and get a closer look next time I'm there. Anything rust-free is worth having.

Pics or it didn't happen!!!

Yeah, my mom showed me this a while ago it was on the news. Some teenagers took it for a test drive from the ford dealership and they wrecked it.

Now this is a car thread to get excited about. Nice find.

Thanks!

My buddy who lives right down the road stopped by in his 70 challenger when he saw me outside working on the stang. I haven't seen or talked to him in years, so it was nice to see him again. He's also got a 440 cuda. I've got some mopars to kill I guess...

I'll get some pics of them sooner or later, they are very nice.

Not much going on with the mustang this weekend. Just waiting on some parts, looking for a 60-80 gallon air compressor, sandblaster, and some other random stuff.

I picked up another welder, a millermatic 250. Worked on that a bit to try and fix what the previous owner couldn't figure out. But that's done. Now I just need a new regulator for it and it's ready to roll.

If anyone would like to tell me what axle I have, that would be sweet...

I'm guessing it's 3.25 gears 8"

Yo,
The way I usually tell is if you cannot get a socket and ratchet on the bottom bolt (you have to use a box wrench), then its an 8". If you can, then its a 9".

also the 9" should have a depression on the drivers side of the back cover

Removed headlight housings, bumper mounts, battery tray, window washer reservoir, inner fender splash guards, and the driver fender. I found out that indeed Ford put the vin number under the fender on a driver side fender apron.

More tomorow after the shooting range...

Been a long time since I stumbled upon this thread, how's the 'stang?

Awesome! I have a 70 parts car if you need anything!

Good guess! It's also "open". If it were a limited-slip diff, it would have an "L" in place of the decimal point = 3L25.

If you plan on any kinda "grunt" under the hood, you might wanna consider upgrading to a 9" diff after you get it running. :dunno:

A sad update...

After further inspection, this is not a toploader 4 speed. :bawling:

It's an imposter. I guess in the late 70's they had a look alike overdrive tranny that was almost the same, but not meant for performance.

Glad I didn't pay much for it.

On a positive note, I do have a '79 302 and manual bellhousing for it. It also doesn't need a rebuild, just a good cleaning inside and out.

Duster, I was going to ask what the tag number was on it. Aluminum case? Just classified as a top loader but no strength and the O/D. You want to run a BBF (428 or built 390), try and find one with the 1 3/8" input.

I haven't updated this in a while...

I ordered passenger and driver floor pans a few days ago, and will have them this weekend. I plan on building a rotisserie in the next few weeks also.

On a side note, there's a 99.99999% chance that the garage might be home to another pony of the 4 wheeled variety.....
