leasing a car???

the only thing that leasing does is help your credit and help the car company make more money on the same car. Ford is running 0% interest and cash back right now. buy something new and when payments are done it is yours, not the dealerships. i would never lease a vehicle. buy only

only lease a car if you absolutely have to have a new car at the beginning of every year.....which would make you a d-bag......otherwise, it's like renting housing, in the end you've spent all this money and you have nothing to show for it. i agree, buy only and buy used

Leases are only good for companies that lack repair facilities and budgets for repairs. The lease for them is a tax write-off. For you, it isn't. Leasing gets you the car cheaper up front but you ultimately own nothing.

If it's that cheap then the miles per year are probably limited to 10,000 to 12,000 and you pay a steep penalty at the end if you're over that. So take a realistic look at how many miles you put on in a year.

Leasing is a way to get a lower payment for more car (or truck) than you could afford otherwise. If you're the type who likes a new car every few years, then go for it.

I lease my trucks but I am self-employed and use them for work, so it's a tax write-off and simpler than buying and having to guess right (or wrong) on the depreciation.

Of course if you like it you can always buy it at the end of the lease at a predetermined price. I will probably buy my Sport Trac when the lease is up at the end of the year but only because they're not going to make them any more.

On most you still have to follow the maintenance schedule and pay for that. I don't know about Subaru. On BMW's all scheduled maintenance for the first 3 years and 36,000 miles is included, whether you buy or lease. But as my dad found out when he got a BMW back in 2001, all sorts of shit starts exploding about a week after the warranty is up and they're pricey suckers to fix.

PRO: If you own a business or intend to use it EXCLUSIVELY for business, you can write off the mileage or lease payments (to a degree) on your taxes.

CON: If you are just leasing because you want to have a new car, you're wasting your cash: all you are going to be doing is renting a car for (x) years, and you are responsible for either keeping it (or making it) looking like new at the end of the lease. If you don't and they have to do any kind of restorative work (detail, bodywork, mechanical repair) you get to pony up for that as well.

Our director at work is a 20-something bimbette who dresses like a call-girl, and thinks that leasing is the best thing that ever came down the pike. So she traded in a car that was paid for, and leased a new Lincoln (something). I asked her if it was a company car: no. Is it something that you intend to use for business only: no. She's a ditz who has to have the latest, best. I kinda chuckled and asked her if she wanted to rent a car for 2 years, why didn't she come see me, I'd have rented her one for half the $500/mo she's paying now.
