modded my headlights

i painted it. i masked off the headlamp dish down where the cylinder thing for the turn signal started so i actually painted it down into the dish. i noticed nothing different with the lights beam at all.

take your headlights out, put them in the oven on 200 for 15 mins. pry off the outer lens, mask off the 2 dishes, paint everything else black, silicone the lenses back on. i dont think you can do it with the older headlights though. probably just eh 01 and ups

well, my lights are drying as i type. hardest parts were splitting them in two. i didnt want to put them in the oven too long and have them melt. second light went in for 15 min and was perfectly fine, and easier haha. and masking was hard too, but with the second one got easier as well. i did flat black since i had a can of it.

mine are flat as well. i did a neighbors f150 lights in the same color as his body. got a spray can from autozone in the right color and they look pretty sweet on it.

I keep wanting to do that except do red to match my truck, but concerned about not sealing correctly ( moisture ) and having to get new head lamps.

What is the proper temp to use for the oven?

180-200 f for about 15 mins or so. if you use enough silicone in the little groove it would be fine. ive used this method to fix about a dozen headlights so far. if it fogs up you can always redo it.

it just rained overnight at my house and i checked my lights, no moisture or condensation

it can sometimes take a few storms to get enough moisture inside of them and fog up but you can always use the bubble fix method if they do. take the housing out of the truck, put a junk headlight bulb in it with some crappy silicone on it to seal it and place it underwater and check for bubbles. when done take out the bulb and let it sit out and dry not in the sun because you may get water spots on the inside of your lens.
