With broken leaves its going to sit differently.

So have you come to a conclusion to what engine your going with?

nah it will depend on budget and other things so im gona prep the truck for heavy mods like that by updating everything i can.
ie new brakes (possibly try retrofit a larger disc on the front and do a rear disc conversion.

also, repairing the body is comin too.

in the meantime.
ill be picking up the springs tomorrow and i bought oil might as well change that tomrrow

instead of the expensive rear disk conversion get the 8.8 exploder rear end 95+ with the disk breaks on it but the only thing you have to do is change the brake booster.

Dont forget to look at my thread.

wahoo!
progress!
so i got paid today :icon_thumby:
i now have 2700 of the ideal 4000 saved AND my taxes should come this month (around 1000 dollars) and i paid off my credit card.
now its down to my 100 ish dollar phone bill and thats it.
add that all to the 1500 ill put away next month and im truck shopping.
unless i choose to give myself an extra month (maybe more realistic not such a stringy budget)
and i can buy the 373 ls 7.5 diff i want. or i can b lazy and get a 8.8 and wait til im drivin the newer truck to swap it in. i really hope this diff holds up

I would do the 8.8 and be done with it. My truck has 3.73 ls and its not that much of an advantage over and open diff. Plus if your going the v-8 way the 8.8 will hold up to it better then the 7.5.

i may even do both. (ie swap in 373 7.5 now and come v8 time swap 8.8 or if i can find a good 9")
im goin to pick up the springs now gonna need new u bolts :o
have no idea where im gonna find those today...
oi

well it appears i didn't get the new springs in yet.
they wrecker never got them out til noon :(
then i had fun with just about every nut and bolt on my truck being siezed like crazy
and the spring bolts were stuck in the bushings (we got one out in about 45 min and decided this was stupid when the second bracket broke tryin to pound em out as we dont have a torch :(
so i put the new u bolts in and threw a hose clamp on the broken section of spring to keep it from wackin anything
tomorrow i will drop the leaf off a spring service and have them replace the siezed up bushing
then ill get some grade 8 bolts and locking nuts and tear it all apart again (should b a lot quicker this time.
i took pictures and had another look at my diff to see how it was holding up and to my pleasant surprise the pinion bearing is perfect the problem is a couple driveshaft bolts had loosened a little bit enough to make the DS have a tiny bit of play and after a quick tightening its back to perfect!
however the u joint has a little slop not much but its there.
pictures!!!!

ok pictures are taking a while cause there is a video too so ill just postem later

get some pics of the front spring hangers...and the cab mount brackets at the frame

just to make sure the frame is worth working with

:yahoo:
the majority of the rust on my truck is surface and body.
my city doesn't usually salt its roads it uses sand so rust is primarily lack of cleaning and from dirt and grim underneath.

im actually very releaved that my diff is in good shape i wasn't really lookin forward to changing that.
im quite seriously considering doing a very mild 302 build to drop in it just for basic setup of everything so its ready for a drop in built one.
as in yank a 5.0 and carb it. get a good c4 and slam it all in there and let go of the 4wd idea. its really just more work than i need right now.
