My dad and I successfully transplanted a 2.3L EFI engine into an '84 with a carb'ed 2.0L. Didn't last long tho, spun a bearing. Now it has a 5.0L!!:headbang: Would be beneficial to have a donor truck on hand too.

well if any way i would like to keep it carbed

Did they ever make a carb'ed 2.3L? I can't recall.

i have no clue man im a mustang guy

Well, don't know about the carb, but the rest of it is possible.

would i be able to tkae the intake off the 2.0 and put it on the 2.3

so if i get one with a dissy on it i can just change the intake right ????

Looks like it.

Why don't you want EFI? J/W

dont want to spend the money i drive so i dont have to drive the f 150 or the stang

Ok, I can see that. It shouldn't take much longer to convert to EFI. I'd at least grab the parts if they are there and keep them around for a day when you can play with it. EFI should get you a few more MPG.

yes you can drop in a 2.3 in place of the 2.0..

yes there are carbed 2.3, look into 74-84(?) mustangs and rangers from 83-85
some, very few, 2.3 l were made with a round port head and ran a 1bbl carb, but most had the 2bbl progressive carb set up

you can use the 2.0 small round runner intake on the Dport head if you make or by an adapter plate (I have seen them on ebay) I made one out of 1/8 thick sheet aluim.

the 1BBL carb that the 2.0 has the intake will not cover/seal the lower outer corners on the 2.3l D port head

the exh sides of the heads are the same (look in the JY for a factory shorty headder)

Actually as I recall 84-86 Mustang 2.3l were all 1bbl Carbs. The 2.3 started out in the Ford Pinto. I wouldnt waste my time putting a 2.0 intake on a 2.3. Just find a 2.3 and install it as is-you are better off that way.
The 2.0 and 2.3 are identical except bore size-but externally the bellhousings are the same as are motor mounts. I love 2.3s they are virtually bulletproof and Im in process of a 2.3 turbo swap into a 87 4x4 right now.
