will a 2.3 work in place a 2.0

IF the donor engine you get is an '88-up EFI engine here's what I'd recommend doing....

Have your 2.0 Oval port head referbished and install it on the 2.3 engine.

BUT swap the roller cam and followers from the 2.3 engine into it.
(the "sled follower" cams tend to make metal chips that will eventually
kill the oil pump)

replace the oil pump, rod bearings and keep the aluminum oil pan

steel ford pans tend to rust through and the O-ring pan gasket
used on the cast pans is a much better solution than any of the
gaskets used on steel pans.

Note: the oil pump pickup tube for the aluminum pan is different.

Your Distributor wil swap into an '89-94 2.3 even though those engines are all "Dual plug", but that doesn't matter if you use your 2.0 head...

Hey, I have a worn out 85 ranger 2.0 carb'ed 5 speed, but I was offered a 2.3 efi 5 speed from a 94 that was in a rollover. What would have to be swapped to make it happen?
