i have a 99 ranger 4x4 i bought a 302 to put in it but needing help on a good tranny i wanna stay with the 5 speed so a buddy of mine recommended an AX-15 but im still learning and was curious if thats will be good enough

I think I've heard of T-5s going in rangers, if you are really industrious and good at custom fab I know you can open up the trans tunnel a bit and make a ZF fit. I don't know much about the AX-15 but th eZF 5 speed was Fords heavy duty stick back in the 80s and 90s.

i just put the zf trans in my 94 ranger with a 3" body lift behind the 302 and barely even had to touch the firewall seam, but did have to cut the factory floor board hole out some more...

Wish I could put a bigger engine in my 02......

I think what I heard was that the seam had to be ground down and then the floor had to be moved up an inch. But that was on a B2.

The AX-15 is a light duty 5 speed used in Jeeps. You might look at an M5R2 from the F150's, 88 thru 96?. They will be a direct fit and plenty of stock parts that can be easily adapted to work.
