driving to the north pole

i have owned 2 toyotas and they were unstopable i went places in both of them that i know a 4x4 ranger wouldnt make it to. now im not tryin to bash ford or rangers i drive one so far its been a good truck but...... it has a tapping noise and ive already had to replace both cats and it only has 57,000 miles!!! both yotas had way worse problems and would still crank everyday and run till the world ends my first one had 360,xxx miles had the hg blew out on it and being 16 i didnt have the money to replace it so i kept driving it and about a week after i blew a hg i rolled the truck and it was still runnning upside down i had to turn it off. my second one didnt have reverse it went out cause some punk got it stuck and threw from D to R to many times he burned up the clutch packs but it still drove and shifted smoothly compared to my ranger it bucks like noones bussiness. around here every one has either a ford or chevy so when my 1990 yota passed them when they were stuck with their huge lifts and 40+ plus tires and im in 2wd with ballterrians and no lift at that point imagine the looks i got when i stoped to ask them if they needed a pull i got laughed at so many times that one day i yanked out a chevy 1500 with mud tires and 6in lift and never touched my 4wd. now i challenge you who dont like yotas find someone with one and talk to them hell ride with them off roading and see how good it does before you knock them for being an import! i had a buddy with a 1979 bronco and he never rode in a yota 4x4ing and we went out one day to a place around here called ditto and if you didnt have the power or tires you would get stuck my stock truck with balled tires and i shocked him i never used 4wd till i had to go through some deep ruts filled with water and even then i prolly didnt even need it but still after that day he never called my truck a crapy toy again i outwheeled him so many times its unreal. if yall like top gear so much watch the one where they try to kill a toyota. so come on lets stop all this talk about where a truck is made and look at how it preforms and looks i could really care less what i drive i just have had better luck with toyotas than fords ive owned 2 of each and both yotas have and lasted one of them and prolly my ranger now. granted yotas are hard to work on from how small the engine comparment are but just basic maint. it will go and go and a huge plus that the rangers need that yotas have is called ECT power it boosts your power by i think either 5 to 10 percent and when your muddin in some thick mud its nice to have and that was on a 19 year old truck ford didnt start using anything like that on a truck till the raptor!!!

Yeah ... well alot of it also has to do with what the truck has... This is not a toyota vs. ford thing... just sayin my old 84 ranger could go anywhere mostly in 2wd and could pull out big trucks with ease. I had all the right options and knowhow to drive it properly. L/S, Manual Tranny, Manual tcase... manual everything... its my favorite truck I've driven others and even compare to my new ranger nothing can compare to my 84 to me. :icon_thumby:

i think it is an older truck thing u have almost a basic truck cept for the L/S and i had a basic truck. i think if they were to put a truck like ur 84 to my 90 i think that would be a toss up. and i know someone is going to chime in and go thats not fair for some weird reason

I love the people who rag on others for their opinions, it comes down to me wanting to support my country, plain and simple! Buy american! While theres still time!!
Misinformation victim. Go to college and take economics.

I would much rather buy something that says "made in USA" then made in China. What's wrong with that? Why would you get so angry about someone believing that buying American made products helps our economy? Chill out man.:icon_twisted:

What about 70% made in USA. That's close to the best you'll find with your job shifting US automakers. Too bad it's 15% behind Toyota WITHOUT the benefits of NAFTA counting Mexico as domestic.

Well that may be true the ranger is assembled 10 minutes from my house, and maybe I wanna support my local economy and my neighbors jobs.

And also how can you say it wont prevent the economic turn down when the Ranger plant is so close to the chopping block? If people keep the demand then the jobs remain. Buying American supports a dying breed and if the demand is gone, the jobs are gone. Pretty sure the Japanese companies are doing alot better than the American companies, so buy American!

Basically don't tell me buying American is BS when I drive past the plant that my truck came from twice a week (granted its assembled). clearly you have some pent up rage against the US.

(oh yeah and way to quote an idiotic "song")
Just a "my backyard" view. Half of the problem with or economy is this. No one cares outside of their area.

For the most part everything I have purchased that has stood the test of me and time, has been American made. That's one of many reasons I'd rather buy something that has that MADE IN THE USA sticker on it. It also helps keep my fellow Americans employed. I take pride in that.

But to each his own. I won't throw out judgments backed by anger, because someone want's to help support American or Japanese made products. If my neighbor prefers products from over seas, then that's up to him. Who am I to judge him or her..right? That's why I don't and neither should Great_Big_Abyss. That's just impolite and inconsiderate.

You don't seem to be aware that most Toyota's sold here, are built here. And, have higher US parts content than Ford, GM, or Chrysler.

Me too! I rather have something made by free people, free to work for that company, and free to leave, rather than, forced slave child labor.:dunno:

Like the Americans that build most of the Toyota's sold here? How ****ing ignorant. Can you read a magazine?

Suuuuure it could. A story I have heard a hundred times.

ok so getting back to the thread if i was to choose between a yota and a ranger to go to the north pole in it would have to be the yota. and to prove my point on why go on to youtube and search for the top gear episode on where they TRIED to kill a toyota and there are several videos on it and to this day they still have it in the background on their show. and i choose it not from where its made, nor by who made it but because its how its built the design of the motor, trans, xcase are great. i have seen pics of toyotas 8rear end full of mud and the person was still able to drive the truck and didnt even know it was like that. ive seen in person ppl sink their 4runner sucked water into the airbox and tb and it killed the motor all they did was wipe out the box and filter and tb and take the plugs out and spray sum wd40 into the motor and turn it over and the amount of muddy water that came out was unreal and they still drove it home and that 4runner is still driving to this day on the same motor it hasnt been rebuilt EVER and this is a 1gen 4runner with well over 300,xxx miles on it. heres a link to the first video on top gear how to kill a toyota http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWc_flGRT_o heres the second one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ql2PHqE3cy4&NR=1

Yeah well owing to the fact you have never seen nor driven it I would think that you might not care... Because it can. I mean Your WONDERFUL toyota going through places a purpose built mud truck gets stuck on 40's? PLease save the BS. Atleast I don't admit to things that probably aren't true. Besides after driving toyotas I ;love my old ranger for 2 reasons... 1. I got it for free and I like the way it looks alot better then the rusted out toyota crap up here. 2. It has manual everything and has never let me down.

Oh and the yotos I drove yes they have more power probably but i really don't care when it feels like I'm gonna rip the rusted stick shift through the floorboards every time I have to shift.

I know in Georgetown, KY there is a big Toyota plant that employs hundreds of Americans - so does this not count! Should we not support them because it is a Japanese name? I applaud your American patriotism but the world works better when we work together, with no international trade the world economy will struggle.

Jason, please stfu all you do is bitch about what anyone has to say, / yourself.

I have to agree with what Jason is saying about the economic side of this discussion; and unlike some other people on here (not yourself, though) he actually knows how to use proper punctuation and sentence structure.

Its a little different using a phone, you ever think about that? Prob not lol@u
