I did a search and I as surprised I couldn't find a thread on this already.
I have a stock 2007 Ranger with the matte gray wheels.
I've seen the same wheels in chrome on some Rangers and I've also seen wheel skins that cover my wheels and make them look like the chrome wheels.
That leaves me with a dilema...throw on some skins or scour the junk yards and go through the trouble of demounting and remounting the tires for the true chrome?
I'll use the skins if they are not junk.
Does anyone have experience with the skins?

My 98 Ranger came from the factory with them and my 86 BII has a set of 99 rims with them and I have had no problems with them

Thanks for the heads up.
Are your skins metal?
I believe the aftermarket ones are plastic and those are the only ones I have seen available.
I don't expect the chromed plastic ones to stay nice forever but if they last a 4-5 years that's cool with me.

The factory chrome rims are just your grey rims with a skin on them anyways. I can't judge the quality of aftermarket skins but I assume the are the same...

That's good to know.
...and all this time I thought the factory chrome was the actual rim.
I'll give the aftermarket skins a shot.
Thanks!

My ex Son N Law had a 2000 Ranger with factory chrome wheels and they rusted and pitted bad after a few years. The skines on my 98 still look like they just came off the assembly line. Same with the 99 Explorer rims on the BII.
Check on E Bay. There is always several sets for sale there.
