What's luckiest break a cop has given you?

About 6 years ago I had my exhaust on my mini van fly off and hit a cop car that was behind me.He let me off with a warning ...

:icon_surprised:

Only been pulled over once.

Instead of making a left through a red light (Michigan Left) I went straight.
He told me that next time it's going to be points. Have a Nice Evening.

my friend of mine is a cop and he said that one night at the police station a woman drove to the police station drunk and demanded the cops sell her cigs because she was out and she need one lol .

My father and i was driving on the parkway and there was a drunk driving in front of us and they got off the same exit we did and then they pulled off on this dead end street .. So i was flying through town trying to find a state trooper but everytime we could turn around to catch the statey, he was gone so finally we got behind one and we where doing 65 in a 50 and then we got in this stateys ass and flashing our high beams to get him to pull so after a while of this they finally pulled over and got out of the car with there guns drawn and i don't know why lol jk.... My dad was going to tell them they had a tail light bulb out and we where going to give them a warning but i didn't think it was a good idea and so we told the stateys what was going and they went to go get the guy but gave us a verbal warning for pulling over a statey...

I've been driving in America for 6 months now, although I'm 19. Lived outta the country the last 3 years, so thats why I've only been driving here such a short time. Been pulled twice in the 6 months. :(

First time was coming down the highway, doing about 85 in a 55. I slowed down to about 65 for some traffic up ahead (but my speedo was reading about 5 off) and just then passed a state trooper in a dodge charger pointing the opposite direction in the median. I watched him in my rear view mirror until I disappeared over the next hill and he didn't move or turn his lights on. My turn off was about 1/4 mile from there, and so since I didn't see him move, I just assumed he didn't see me, and turned off.

Speedlimit was 35 on that road, so i was carefully watching my speed, still kinda disbelieving he didn't see me, when all the sudden a silver car comes FLYINGG up behind me, (I know he was doing at least 90 in a 35) all the sudden I see the blue lights and i'm like $hit, and I pull off. I was now more than a mile away from where the trooper was.

Well anyway, he thought I was trying to run from him by turning off the highway. He started asking me all these questions, and was real mean about it, wanted to know where I lived, exactly how I got there, etc. I answered all his questions honestly, but I don't think he believed me. Ended up writing me up for 70 in a 55. I went to court and got off for improper equipment, which is just a $155 fine.

Second time I got pulled over in town one night by a regular cop. I had just turned right without stopping completely at this red light, and as soon as I finished the turn, on come the blue lights behind me. I was like ahhhhh $hit (I was due to go to court for my speeding ticket the next day) but I pulled into a parking lot and stopped. Cop comes up and goes "any idea why I stopped you?" I said "Well sir, I believe I ran that red light back there." He looks at me funny, laughs, and goes "Well, that may be right, but you've got a headlight out, so I'll let you off on the red light tonight." He gave me a fix it ticket and let me on my way.

The best one I've heard though was my best buddy. He got stopped for doing 80 in a 55 in his Cherokee. He was with his girlfriend trying to make it to a movie on time. He lives in a small town, and the cop goes "You've got 2 options. I can impound your car right here and now, or you can give me your cell phone and let me call your dad. You can tell him what you've just done, and I'll let you go. Which would you like?" My friend called his dad, and the cop let him off with nothing but a verbal warning. I thought that was pretty friggin awesome!!

I've another buddy who had to have his arm amputated (long story) but he drives a Mustang. He speeds a fair bit, and of course every cop he passes has his radar gun trained on his stang'. Well my buddy always hides whats left of his arm behind his side when the cop comes up, (its amputated at the elbow) and the cops almost always ask what he's doing with the arm, cuz it looks kinda suspicious. When he moves his arm up and shows them, they get embarrassed for being all insensitive, and let him off. He's been stopped 8 times now, and didn't get a ticket till the last time lol.

17yrs old. Day of my birth or a couple days before. Going to lunch driving my bright ass yellow 1971 chevy pickup w/ a granny low 4spd. Loud, bright, look at me vehicle driven by a "punk teenager". Pulling out of the high schools lower parking lot, just shifted into 3rd(aka 2nd) I see the blue lights less than a football field length from when I pulled out. Supposedly, he clocked me at 51 in a 20(my ass). Anyway...I'm pulled over RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE SCHOOL where everyone eats and chills during lunch and where the buses pick up. I get the ticket and he tells me to have my parents call him. We have a word. It was ripped up and threw out. $474 ticket too.

Now, I realize I may have been going 30...barely. But 1st gear is super super super short. 2nd gear is still pretty damn short too. I just shifted into third and supposedly I was going 51? Sorry...not possible being I just shifted into it. 3rd is the pulling gear. I have a big feeling the officer saw a punk kid in a hot truck....we all know punk kids in hot cars are only out to do one thing: race and/or drive fast and stupid. I think it was a warning to watch my ass of sorts. After that, pulled over 6 times by the same cop for the same thing: taillight wiring. lol. Became a joke after a while.

Agreed. That '71 is a good lookin' truck. In HS, I had a friend who took a '71 cab & frame and mounted a later C/K (89 or 90) flareside bed on it . It looked killer, espeaclly with the black paint, louvered hood, and raised yellow letter Goodyears on it.

^^reminds me of my buddy's '71 Jimmy.... Truck looks good man.

(pic was taken at my high school car show. I had alot of time on both those rigs).... Tought both of 'em how to modify their clutch linkage for headers and adjust that linkage and replace the weak stock with beefy linkage. Damn me for wanting headers! That truely was the driving force in swapping in a auto! haha.

On mine....what started out as a bad throwout bearing, turned into a full engine rebuild and tranny swap!

I've had a few really LUCKY breaks with cops, not so much because they were being nice about it though.

Used to have a 70 mach one, mean 428 overall a wild car. Ran open headers on it that were tuned perfectly to the engine, below 2500RPM, it sounded like I had a full exhaust on it, but when you broke 2500 it would really roar. (when I sold the car the buyer climbed under to look when I told him there was no exhaust) I was down in Grand Rapids one night and some Camaro driver was trying to get me to race him, at the time I had expired plates, and no insurance so I really didn't want to race. But he kept on, and finally at one light I gunned it and let it roar.
Next thing I know there's a cop behind us with his lights on, we both pulled over. He looked at my car, had me hit the gas I rapped it up to 2300 or so a couple of times while he listened, then did the same to the camaro, turned around and told me I could go. I said thank you, waved at the camaro driver and headed out.

Another time, I was heading home and for some reason one cross road was EXTREMELY busy, normally only see 10 cars an hour, but that time it was bumper to bumper. I sat there for maybe 10 minutes, and finally saw a small break in the traffic. So I wound her up and as soon as the break was right, I dumped the clutch and shot across the road.
As soon as I let dropped the clutch I heard gravel bouncing off a car, looked in the rear view (stupid for not doing that first) and saw a state police car sitting there That I had completely peppered with gravel.

Funniest time, was going home, nasty roads. We had freezing rain that turned into a blizzard and had about 8" of that ball-bearing snow on top of ice, slicker than crap.
The speed limit was 55, and I was cruising at about 25-30, missed a turn and turned around. When I turned around a cop started to follow me. When I reached the next light after the turn, I noticed the cops light go on so I tapped my brake to let him know I was slowing down and and eased off the gas to slow down.
Half a second later I saw the cop go sideways, feel a tap, and start spinning around.
Both of us were pretty much spinning in lockstep through the light and all the way down the hill almost to the next intersection.
Finally came to a stop side by side facing different directions, rolled my window down and when he rolled his down I said "I know you won't be giving me a ticket" He just grinned and said "drive safely"

Ken.

Riding with my buddy, both of us had been drinking enough, got pulled over by a state boy. He said one headlight was burnt out. I got out and beat on the hood and, lordy, it came back on so he let us go. Can't do that today! Another night about 2 am coming back from tavern 30 miles away, we pulled over behind a small strip mall to "releve" ourselves, got to the street and got lit up. Cops wanted to know what we were doing back there so told them the truth and the let us go. Can't do that today! Another time we were all six of us trying out the new BII, doing some creek crossings, again about 2 AM, drinking again, when went to pull out on the street, two squads had blocked our way off the dirt road. They thought we might have been breaking into the stores nearby. We all got out, one guy still had his beer in his hand so the cop told him to get rid of it. Doing what comes naturally in cases like that, he just slamed it down. Can't do that anymore! Really don't want to talk about the incident with the wooden machine gun, that could have gotten ugle really quick. Believe some "Beverage" was again involved at closing time.
