i have a 91 ford ranger i put a 1965 289 in

the builds finished and im driving it but im still working out the kinks, only major problem aside from the C4 slipping and the major lack of traction, i have a severe leak from the oil filter relocator

i have the 90 degree moroso sandwich adapter off summit, the in and out threads leak on the block adapter, i have used reg silicone, bought this finger sized bottle of "racing formula" for 9 bucks and still leaked, tried teflon tape, tried o rings but they wouldnt stay in place, after it started spraying oil and i lost a quart of synthetic in less then a mile i even tried to bondo the nipples to the adapter but couldnt get it to seal

has anyone had this problem with the moroso adapter, or any ideas to seal it cause my next stop im pulling out the welder and making a perfect one piece adapter, any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance

bad or maybe over tighten it and cracked the housing itself? maybe a hairline crack?
wrong size fitting?

could be the adapters o-ring isn"t seated good and its running down and making it look like the in out lines are leaking, that happened on my 302 i originally had in mine

i got a perma cool adapter on my 289 and no leaks used a dab of black rtv to hold o-ring in place, and rubber hose from parts store with brass fitting and no problems,

Hi dirtracer115,

I'm not sure what the problem could be. Are you using the right fittings. They should be straight "an" threads and come with an o-ring. Not tappered pipe threads. Are the fittings bottoming out before the o-ring is tight? Is the o-ring the one that came with the fittings? What brand are the fittings?

If you could tell me what p/n the adapter is, I will get one out of stock and check it myself.

If you have a chance, give our tech line a call, and hopefully we can get it figured out for you. 203-458-0542

Thanks for using our products!

I agree that is service. They found you and are trying to help you out. I can see there concern because if his is having a problem, what about everybody else that bought the same relocation kit.

dirtracer, this is the type of fitting you should be using. From where you said that "tried o rings but they wouldnt stay in place", it sounds like you might be using the wrong style.

Rick, as they said above, thanks for coming aboard our group here and helping out first hand. Thead sizes really get confusing in some of the later Mustangs/Rangers. Bodys seem to be all metric and some of the engine parts are still SAE,
Thanks again!
Dave

thanks for posting the picture. About how tight should the fittings be tightened? What kind of hose clamp is to be used to secure the oil line rubber lines to the fittings? Thanks -Ryan-

Damn! Rick Moroso.................Sweet!
I have used Moroso stuff for years!
Now.....................Why cant I find set of Blue stamped aluminum valve covers for my 351W?

Snug them up well. They are not meant for a hose clamp. They are meant to be used with an style hose ends on braided hose. Available from Aeroqiup, Russell, Fragola, etc.

Definitely going to cost a little more to go with the AN style fittings and the braided hose, but you will not be disappointed. It is worth the extra money. I have a similar set up on my Ranger and I am very happy with it.

sorry took so long to get back ive had internet troubles for some odd reason but thanks for all the help, and thank you rick for finding me lol

originally i had bought a kit off summit (not sure brand sorry guys) but it was a straight out from the block relocator which i did not know at the time i did not have the clearance for that kind, this kit came with fittings hoses clamps and all, so i went back and bought the moroso sandwich style relocator and used the same fittings, they threaded in fine and tightened down but as was pointed out would not hold a o-ring

ive changed the fittings and got it settled after playing with it a little more, appreciate the advice, this site has yet to let me down when it comes to my ranger... i just need a site like this for my mustang II :P
