Halloween Run 2009

I'm wishing I hadn't torn down the bII right now... in lots of ways. But i'll still be there on the quad. I don't have to work tomorrow so I'm waking up, packing, and going. Don't know when that'll be- i'll get there when I get there, rain or shine. I wouldn't mind getting there early enough to make some laps around the park on my lonesome. I usually pitch a tent but will be opting for the sleeper cab in the dodge since I won't have the trailer with me this time to setup on.

I'll for sure bring the coffee pot and creamer- that's a must. I'll see what is left of the legal burnables to bring from my fire pile. I'll bring the EZ up, I'd suggest if anyone has one to bring it, even if its raining we can form a dry campground. I'll prolly bring my small charcoal grill and a few burgers.

Also since I'm sporting the atv and in the quarry hopefully a pasenger seat- as long as its not raining I'll play photographer and make sure it all gets posted by sunday night.

Hope people show up, this will be fun.

I have to work today, as most folks do on Fridays. :icon_twisted:

I'll head out after that and get loaded up, not much to bring besides the truck, trailer, and truck... That's enough PITA in itself though.

I'm planning to head out early Saturday am. If it looks like this when I get up though, forget it. I have plenty of things that I need to do to get ready for winter since I'm jumping back in the plowing game. I have the rest of my life to wheel, no reason to need to drive three hours to wheel on one of the most miserable weekends of the year.

Oh, and Bray: :thefinger: I remember when your little truck came out to the farm and got scared to rub on that tree in the back woods. We ended up having to hi-lift winch you away from it. You were a bitch back then. So you don't have much room to give me shit about being 'hardcore', I done grew out of it. :thefinger:

No offense Tony, but I don't really care what people think. Over the last 8 years (mainly the 2003-2008 time period) I wheeled in some of the shittiest weather, rain, sleet, snow, hot, cold, etc. I'm tired of it, and it makes a hobby that I'm already losing interest in that much less enjoyable.

"Reliable" or not, I plan to enjoy what little "Me-time" that I have these days. Being cold, muddy and miserable is not my idea of a goog time. I can take the cold, or rain, or wind, or mud, or snow, etc, but not more than one at a time, thank you.

See you fawkers Saturday around 10....:thefinger:

If you show up, I'll buy you a beer/soda!

I hate cold weather myself, but I never have me time and never get out often sense I got custody of my kid and got married. That is why I'm going. I need time away.

Hope you didn't think I was attacking you some how. :icon_cheers:

Nope, you're good. I just threw up a preventative defense against some smart-ass comment surely to follow.

Like this one:

Quit being a grumpy old man, you grumpy old man....

There, my corny and mildly retarded wise-crack offense surely was no match for your prevent defense.

But seriously though, we all have to grow up sometime. When you have a career, wife/fiance, and responsibility, it makes wheeling (aka FUN) a lesser of a priority. If I could go back in time before I was farming, I would be there wheeling with you guys in an instant, but I had to grow up real quick.

If it goes through, this will likely be my last wheeling trip. I can't compare to your scenario, but I do understand how priorities change.

My offer still stands Brad, if you ever need a hand up there, holler. I dont have my CDL A, but that's not much of an issue if need-be.

I had to grow up super fast when my daughter came to live with me and her mother stopped helping or seeing her so I know the feeling. I rarely get out now a days. I had the chance this time and decided to take it while I could. I have my class A cdl if ya wanna barrow it lol

My neighbor is like many of us. He was a hard core wheeler and loved it. Then he got married and the wife flat out and told him. We are married now and we are going to have kids. You can't spend your time or money wheeling anymore. Their are more important things you have to worry about. So he sold his 2 trail rigs and big DD truck and bought a car. He says it was time for him to grow up.

I'm afraid I'm coming to that point like he did and many here have. It's not growing up that bothers me. It's knowing my hobbies and likes just won't be possible anymore and that I will have to give them all up for family. I know family is important, but I do not want to turn into some bitter person because I had to give a lot of things up that I love ( many I have had to give up already )

I won't be going. Between having to wait on the activator for my paint and being sick for a few days, my truck is still sitting in the garage waiting for primer, which is what I will hopefully being doing here in a little while. Plus, I'm going to be sending some money to vBulletin either today or tomarrow that I hadn't been planning to spend to get a newer/better version of the forums.

Looks like we might only have 2 or 3, Maybe 4 people now going.

Reason: to attend an event that you organized.

I admit, I was a bitch back in the day. Hell, I still don't enjoy damage, but if you take a walk around my truck, you'll see it has its fair share.

So this will (well, might) be the first and last trip for the chevy. Its a shame after you put all that time and money into it. Makes me wonder why you did it in the first place.

OK, I'm already late for making my deadline. Just felt like I needed to put in a little input. I'm leaving. See you guys there.

Organized? Hardly. I merely suggested it. The fact that everyone decided to follow suit is beyond my control.

I ask myself that all the time. I really regret having built it, in fact if I had it to do over a gain, I wouldn't have.

I'm finishing things up at work and heading out to Wirsch's to load the truck and trailer. I have to fix the trailer jack before I can do much (long story)...

On the growing up thing I know a lot of guys that have a wife, ex wife, kids, and still wheel hard up here. wheeling/mudding is a way of life either you live it or you move on it doesn't make you a b!tch or anything like that but it does give buddies the rite to give you sh!t.

Bray burnsides and I have both had to be high lifted off of trees before so don"t feel bad.
