My truck is called the submarine at my local Autozone, and I originally want to repaint my car yellow but I didn't want to stray away from my interior color scheme. So my truck looked pretty pathetic, my original flames were noobish at best. The paint was thin and the original color showed through but it was tough as nails and withstood offroading abuse and tree limbs. It's the time of year were my garage becomes emtpy as projects are put on hold as it gets too cold to work. I took advantage of the warm temps yesterday and today to paint my truck, I might as well since I had the bed off.
So I had lots of plastic and tape left over from my car paint job, I started sanding with sanding sponges I had already, masked it up and wiped it down with the grease remover I had left over.
I went to the Depot and bought 3 quarts of the white cans of Rustoleum in sunburst yellow. I had some VMP&naptha from previous rustoleum paint jobs. I did batches of 1/3 quart at a time with a swig of VMP&Naptha, too much and its too thin, just a little goes a long way in helping it level, but not sag. I took my cheap HVLP Harbor Frieght spray gun and sprayed away, it took 3 coats to cover the black, it went on very rough but withing 10 seconds it leveled out to a glass like finish.

All in all it actually cost just under $30, a whole gallon would have been cheaper but they were out of gallons. So, take this $50 paint job, took only 6 hours of prep work and masking, painting took about 2 hours. It will be tough as nails, and look good for a long time to come.

My CBR is Chrome Yellow by Ford. Love the color name.

That's freakin' awesome bro! Haha, the funny thing that enamel in the rustoleum will hold up for a very, very long time. lol. Btw, Steelers colors- the yellow/black frame!

lol just paint over the body damage

I wanted to buy a new door, but i don't want to spend $75 for a complete door, plus most doors are stripped off rangers at my junkyard. Then there's bondo work and a new bed; dent just like the door, this was a spur of the moment thing.
No need to repair it anyway, seeing the first time on the trail it will have a new dent.

dude thats pretty sweet im gonna try to do mine in OD green
