so im trying to pull the trans form my exploder, the 4.0 manual will bolt on to a 2.3 4cyl thats got a 5speed correct?

im going to run the eletric case just to get it driveable and to have 4x4 for the winter. i need opinions for a case with a lower range that wont cost me a arm and leg..

A 4.0 transmission won't bolt to a 2.3, but the transfer cases should interchange if that's what you're talking about as long as they are both 4x4 transmissions.

AFAIK there are bellhousings for the 2.3, 3.0, and 2.9-4.0. 2.9 and 4.0 interchange. Everything else is engine specific. You can put 4.0 M5OD guts in a 2.3 M5OD tranny.

heres my deal. my truck is a 90 ranger 2.3 5speed sas with a yj d30 with 31's

my trans is a 93 5speed out of a exploder with the eletronic case

if i cant swap the guts and tailshafts, should i just look for some sort of auto or old school trans to stick in it? around here 2.3 4x4 5speeds are hard to find. ive only come across 2 and i passed them both up like a moron
