planning a build up of my 95 short box std cab with a 5.0 C-4 and 9 inch rear, Im considering moving the rear springs in board directly under the frame to accomidate wider tires etc, my question is has this been done or are there more feasible manner to do this, as far as the fabrication of needed parts thats no problem im a shipyard worker, you should see some of my creations.
also flipping the rear axle onto the top of the spring for a lowered stance if posible, I am basically looking for a good recipe for a sucessessful project, any input would be appreciated, thanks Shawn

Im guessing youre going more for the ProStreet look than looking for additional traction. The 8.8 is plenty beefy for whatever motor youre planning. I would do a coilover shock rear with either a ladderbar or 4 link. By doing it this way, you dont have to narrow the rear or tub the bed. With the right offset wheels you can get huge tires under there without the leafs in the way. Of course you will have to put a fuel cell in and ditch the stock tank. You can also do what you said just move the springs inboard too..but a coilover will give you a lot of height and ride ajustments, plus neck jerking launches without wheelhop.

I used 01 Explorer front spring mounts:

Made custom shackle mounts out of 1 3/4" tubing and 2" angle iron, and replaced the rear crossmember with 2"x4" rectangular tubing:

AFTER:

My plan is to run 15X12 wheels w/7.5" backspacing and 29X14.5 Pro Street tires when I get the spare cash to purchase them!:icon_twisted:

BTW: If ya didn't notice, I also used an Explorer 8.8 L/S rearend!
