I have a 1990 engine in my 86, i have a feeling the dipstick is the wrong one, was wondering if those of you with 90-92 2.9s could give me a part number or at least confirm the one I have is right or wrong. If you pull the stick out its printed right above the oil level marks on it.

the ford part number i have is F17E-6750-CA

as there is only ONE 2.9 oilpan...

Actually there are two P/N's but the difference is the presence or absence of a threaded hole for the oil level sensor.

I know that there was only one 2.9 oil pan profile, When I swapped the motor I actually punched the guts out of the oil level sensor and welded it shut. my concern is that the dipstick doesn't seem too accurate, as in when it gets to the add 1 quart line adding 12-16 ounces will bring it up to full again. I'm just trying to figure out if the stick itself has been swapped out for one meant for another application.

got the right one today PN: E97E-6750-AB
