Build Thread - 1-ton Chevy Swap

Didn't take any pictures, but today's carnage recap are the starter and exhaust pipe....

I'll work on it this week, hopefully have it done by the weekend.:icon_confused:

My mail carrier and UPS man must hate me. This came today all the way from California. Another STOUT product from Dan at Ruff Stuff!

Looks good without the bodylift and the smaller coils, now there's just one more thing that needs taking care of...... :thefinger:

Ok... I'm done giving you shit over it now :icon_rofl:

*Edit* You said you trimmed the fenders a little. Just the corners or what? Looks like you trimmed the edge of the bumper in the pic.

I trimmed the rear of the front fenders. Tapered back to about 1.5" at the bottom. I haven't trimmed the bumper, but I might take a little off of it as well.

Oh, and I'm working on rewiring your favorite part, so that it's easily removable. The truck won't fit in the garage with it on, nor that crappy back-rack. I'm going to build a different cab guard out of c-channel and contour it much closer to the cab profile so it should fit through the door. New measurement to the top of the cab: 81"
:thefinger:

It definitely looks much better without the BL. Have fun with the wiring

We lost power at the office this morning, so I took the rest of the day off. :D

I worked around the house mostly, but did work on a few truck-related projects. I started removing the old breakaway batter box and switch so that I could replace it with the new switch and battery. I designed a mounting method for the toolbox onto the trailer tongue and then bolted up the Pinion Guard from Ruff Stuff. Yes, it is the only thing that still nicely painted and new looking.:thefinger:

There was talk of maybe doing a little wheeling today, but that looks to have fizzled out. At any rate, I decided that bump stops and limiting chain (for now) were needed. I limited the suspension to about 3" of bump, but that's adjustable due to the ride height being adjustable. The droop is also limited right now as I didn't have a place in my garage to really test it out. I figured 8" down travel would be a good place to start, I have another 2-3" if chain if I want to lengthen it. I'm eventually going to buy limiting straps once I determine the length I need.

That's about the worst picture I could have taken, whoops.

I also whipped up a Hi-lift jack mount. Yea, I used a Harbor Freight tube kinker...

Lol. I was looking at that like "Wtf was he thinkin with this picture", then I read that line.

3" of bump eh? That's damn near right where I'm at. I may be able to squeeze 3.5" out of it and still be safe. We will see. I'm gonna order some bumpstop ends and build mine next weekend. I need to build a hi-lift mount as well, but that can wait.

You painted over the heart. *shakes head*

Yeah, it's been that long since I've checked the thread. :D

Nice progress though!
