Who would win? Civic -vs- Ranger

Hello,

One of my friends and I have been talking for the longest time about racing each other. I don't know if we would actually race or not, but if we did, it would be on a closed course. I am wondering who would win, and more importantly, would my Ranger hold up?

The Ranger would be the one in the description, and my buddy has a 1992 Honda Civic hatchback with the four banger. He says the P.O had put a high performance cam into it, but that's about it. His is a stick and mine is a rebuilt A4LD

I don't know if we would do some drag racing our around the track, so please provide feedback for both.

My daily driver is a 2002 Civic. It's not sporty (LX, 115 horsepower non-VTEC engine, 4-speed automatic) but if you really put you foot in and keep it there, it will accelerate fairly quickly.

Trouble is, the transmission isn't set up for driving fast at all. It's D, D3 and 2. There is no 1. So it can't be held in first gear. To drive fast, one has to start in D3, get that shift into second gear, then put the selector in 2, where it will stay until D3 is chosen. A 1-2-3-4 selectable transmission (or a 5-speed) would make this much easier, but Honda had other things in mind.

It would be close. An EX would probably win, though.

Maybe if you had a stick. My truck eats civic. In fact later today I'll try to upload a video I have of my truck smoking a civic at the local dragstrip. Don't remember what the civic ran but my truck consistently runs 17 flat.
