just plain stupid, doing a sbc swap w/blackwidow

I'm brand new to the site and you guys seem to have some great ideas! My Father-In-Law passed away and my wife wants to keep his 1990 Ranger. I already have a Tundra and a motorcycle so I told my wife I'd like to make the Ranger into a little Street Toy!:icon_hornsup: I have a SBC 350 and 700R4. I need to rebuild the motor and thought about going ahead and stroking it (383)... What do you guys think? Thanks for the input...:icon_cheers:

1. Good to hear ya
2. Yes we have some really great ideas(but we don't know what
we're doin).
3. My father passed away & I wish I would have kept his truck.
4. Street toy--great idea.
5. SBC 350/700R4--(psst. don't tell the sbF guys what you're
doing).
6. Stroke if you wanna, but it'll have 3X's the power a Ranger
needs. But if you gotta lotta xtra cash, go for it (but have an
xtra stash for the gas station)--just in case you wanna go on
trips to events in it--just thinking ahead.
7. That oughta do for starters-----anybody else?

Thanks Doorgunner. Still not sure on stroking it, but it was a thought since I have to rebuild anyway... My brother had a 1985 Ranger with a 302 when he was in high school and I know it would fly... Hope to do alot better with this one. Oh and yeah, I noticed the guys get a little uppity about the SBC vs SBF:yahoo:

yep, im still thinkin of jb weldin a dummy disty on the front of the 350 & puttin a paper ;brownbag; bag over the real disty(new orleans people are very resourceful when it involves spicy food and paper bags):icon_rofl:

Edit: im just takin gas prices into consideration in case it became more(THAN) (of) a Saturday nite driver

:icon_rofl: Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm just east of Biloxi... Not too far away.

East of Biloxi, Ocean Springs? :) By the way, I saw on CNN that a bridge was hit by a barge down there? What's up with that?

I lived in Biloxi for 4 years! Really liked it! I was there when the first casinos moved in and went down to New Orleans for the World's Fair in 1984. I miss the seafood, fishing, and going out to Ship Island whenever the urge hit me! The Blessing of the Fleet was pretty cool! People were very friendly and it was a great place to live! :yahoo:

I have a 91 Ranger Super Cab that I dropped a 351 Cleveland with an AOD. It's a lot of fun! :icon_hornsup: :3gears:

Good luck with your build!

:icon_bounceblue: Thanks.... I actually live closer to Moss Point, since you know the area. Yeah, a barge hit the brand new Popp's Ferry Bridge! They just redid it after Katrina too:shok: I used to work for a company that did medical imaging equipment and I've worked at probably every hospital in New Orleans...Including the dreaded Charity Hospital... Anyways, good talking to ya. Hope you don't mind but I'll probably be asking you guys for some tips...

hope you don't mind, but (if) you're build gets ahead of mine, Ima gonna ask you for some tips:icon_rofl:

Sounds like you have a great job and in a beautiful area too! Too bad about Pops Ferry bridge. How's things down there after Katrina? Hopefully the whole area is recovering. I remember that a hurricane came through while we were living there in Diberville and it pushed a barge up on the beach near Edgewater Mall! We watched them pull it out with a huge cable and two tugs! I miss that area.

If you have never drove a V8 Ranger, you are in for quite a shock! :shok: :3gears:

As for asking questions about the builds, fire away! That's what this board is all about and we have some really sharp people! They certainly know their stuff! Good luck with your build and post pics! :yahoo:

be stone-faced serious all the time....but we still
