when shooting a tri coat paint when dose the clear need sparyed? while the base is still tackin? or is it okay to once its dry?

Tri-Coat???

I painted mine with a single stage (no clear needed) and I could spray additional coats anywhere from 30 - 45 minutes up to about 2 weeks without additional sanding between coats to rough it up.

You need to determine the flash time for the base coat, anytime after that you can shoot additional layers or the clear.

Isn't the base coat dry within about 10 minutes? You shoot the clear coat when the base coat is dry, it doesn't have to be immediately... It's for the second layer of clear coat that you have to shoot it before it dries... A way of knowing it is by touching the clear (somewhere you won't see), when your finger stills stick a little but there's no strand following your finger, you're ready to shoot the next layer.

At least it was like this with the paint brand we used it my auto body course..

P.S. Sorry if my english is bad, I have a hard time to express myself.. But I TRIED!!:D

I just finished painting my Bronco II a few days ago. My dad and I did it in our garage. The color needs a flash time of about 10-15 minutes between coats. Once the last coat of color is sprayed, you have to let it set for at least a half hour to an hour before applying the clear coat. I let mine set in the garage over night after I put on the color and sprayed the clear the next morning. Once you start applying the clear, give it about 15 minutes flash time in between coats. After 3 coats of clear, if you want to add more, wait a full 24 hours, wetsand, and then you can apply more coats of clear. Make sure you keep the temperature warm enough (about 75 degrees or so) and make sure everything is as clean as possible before you start spraying.
