Brake fluid change/flush

I would also suggest a couple of short lines handy in case the line twists while trying to disconnect it from the cylinder (as mind did, of course)...they were rusted up good...

It is pretty straight forward though...as long as nothing breaks...but when I did mine I just replaced the entire line from the master back to the flex line, then the lines to the junction on the axel as well as the lines to the brake cylinders...it was only about $40 for all the parts (plus the flaring tool, some connectors, and extra brake fluid)...

so how do you flush the system never done it and i like knowing that my truck has new fluid in it ive done every fluid change except this

Its pretty easy, even I did it without screwing up. I got a vaccume bleader system from Harbor Freight and hooked that baby up and did each wheel, Rear Pass, Rear Driv, Front Pass, Front Driv. The vaccume bleader makes it a one man job which is nice. I just sucked out all the old fluid out of the resivore, filled it to the top, then bled each wheel and re filled it after each wheel was completed. After all four were done, I toped the fluid off to the max mark and I was all done. BTW, I did this at 130K+ and I did not notice any difference in breaking ability. But the color of the fluid was very different. I never knew brake fluid was clear!

its not it should be a gold color well it might be see through gold nevermind it could be clear gold

I think what he is getting at is that it isn't dark brown :icon_thumby:
