Anyone else wishing their gen IV was a gen III?

Went Lift shopping today around town and decided... should gone with a 97 instead of a 98:bawling: freaking 1k dollar difference in price installed... looks like ill have to settle with a BL

nope....jeep dana 44 with a sohc sounds like the hot ticket to me for a lifted driver.


if someone gave me a brand new lift kit for a brand new ranger i would sell it and put a jeep axle in it.:dunno:

ford can take that sla and shove it:D
 
seriously why didn't they just keep the damn D35.... would of made things so much cheaper..
 
actually no, pretty much nothing is the same. not even the gears are the same (TTB is reverse rotation vs IFS's standard rotation).

we all knew what you meant, i was just givin you a hard time :icon_cheers:
 
I actually wish my Gen I was a Gen III. But if I had a Gen IV, I'd feel the exact same way....

Why didn't they keep the TTB? Who knows? Dodge and GM had the SLA already going for years. I guess the designers thought it was time to retire the old design or something. Besides that pumpkin hanging down in front greatly reduced ground clearance for the hardcore wheeling that would be done right off the lot:icon_rofl:
 
They changed it because they say the torsion bar suspension makes for a smoother ride.
IF YOU WANT A SMOOTH RIDE BUY A DAMN CAR!?!?

I wish I would have researched the ranger more till I found out about the IFS, but thats what I get for wanting the newer body style

I remember an article in one of the 4x4 mags back in the early 90's that basically said the same thing. They gave the Ranger a thumbs down due to the "low ground clearance of the front diff compared to the S-10 "

I kid you not. I wish I remembered which mag it was. I do know it was when the Ranger got the 4.0l and the updated front sheetmetal.
 
i know how ya feel,i wish i had a Gen III too. Torsion bars give a softer ride??? Guess i shouldt have cranked the hell out of mine cuz my truck rides rough!!!:D
