racsan , why the coils and leafs in the rear? Heavy towing\hauling or something?

the coils come in handy when i have a heavy load. normally there is about 1" between the top of the coil and the frame. so i still have a "stock" ride. add about 300# and the coils come into play.i pull a trailer on occasion and sometimes i have quite a bit of tounge weight. ive also used a similar set of coils on the taurus, the rear strut spring were getting weak and the amount of rear sag had the headlight aim really off bad. now it has more rear lift than front and the lights actually light up the road at night instead of the raccoons in the trees. heres the taurus setup:

there is a peice of 1" pipe between the lower arms and the lower end of the coil is clamped to a 3" coupling that slides over the 1" pipe. yes it rides a little stiff now. but being able to see at night was a great improvement. ive got a hitch on the car also but havent really used it much. the taurus series automatics dont have a real good track record for staying intact. im sure trailer towing would cause it to grenade much sooner, even if it is rated to tow 3,500 pounds. that green rod you see wired to the strut was hooked up to the torsion bar. i made new links after the stock ones broke and my replacements broke after about a year. the rear end is pretty stiff now and doesnt really need a anti-sway bar.
