Hi, I have a 2000 ranger 2.5 L manual trans. that came without a tach. where can i pick up the tach signal to add an aftermarket one?? and or, can i get a same year cluster with a tach in it and will it plug into the same harness??
THANKS:icon_cheers:

Most tachs will have instructions.

I believe the clusters are plug in play. I know the Gen 2/3s were, as I did that with my 93, just transferred my speedometer/odometer into the new cluster and it all worked fine. I'm pretty sure the newer ones are also plug and play as I thought I saw threads where people were pulling sport (white gauge) clusters from Explorers and putting them in their Rangers.

I have a 1993 2.3XL manual that also came with no tach. However, there was a tach lead in the event the truck was ordered with an instrument cluster that included a tach. You just have to find it. Mine was a yellow/white wire that was in a dummy plug on the driver side inner fender. Any dealer will be able to point out this wire in the even you can't find it yourself. That's your tach lead only so everything else (power) you will have to run yourself. Good luck!
