So I was installing my K&N I got for christmas and was removing the stock system and I looked into it and saw this.

One of the previous owners must have been quite the sucker. My truck does seem to have a little more low end pull with the cold air, I suspect that it has more to do with that POS being gone than anything though (still sounds awsome tho).

For sure dude. I noticed a little more low end with my CAI also, and yea they sound sick!!! I've heard odd reports about those tornado or turbonator or whatever you call them. One of the guys in the local shop has one in his jeep and I rode with him. His gps dyno/mpg/speedo actually was reading 2 more mpg's somehow.

I just dont see how putting an obstacle in the air tract could possibly help air flow.

That is right, and IF it was a scam, they would have been removed from the shelves by now. Autozone, JCwhitney is still selling them.

if u want to talk about restricting the air flow take a look inside the air intake of a stock 89 2.9. it comes stock with a spring inside and you can't tell me that doesn't stop airflow

It is just swirling the intake air, and if it is a restriction, it would increase the velocity of the intake air and encourage complete mixture of the fuel and air. (I'm talking about carbed and Throttle body engines)

Well, if you want proof it's not a gimmick go to basically any forced induction section of any serious forum and ask if it's a good idea. I may say whatever popular mechnics tested may be crap, because F1 people spend hundreds on these kits. But they do indeed cool the charge, allow for leaner burn conditions, more ignition advance, and suppress knock.

I cannot see how this would improve mileage. When it was in it was coiled up even tighter looked like it would block the flow of air in a big way. I'll check my mileage and if it's worse then we'll know

Idk if it works but One of my friends put 2 tornado twirly-thinga-ma-bobs in his turned up diesel pickup stacks and it made the smoke twirl, it really picked up the chix
