Hey Guys, maybe someone can help me. I have a problem with my windshield washer, I have change the washer pump and it still doesn't work. I also check to see if there was any current going to the pump and there was. So I'm stuck any suggestions??

Have you blown compressed air through the lines to see if they're blocked?

I've seen the nozzles plug up before. You can pull the hose off and run the washer to see if it pumps.

The nozzles are often sold cheaply by Help! You'll need to aim them with a straight pin once installed.

I'm posting this here in case anyone has the same difficulty locating parts info on these.

For a 98 ranger this is F77Z-17603-BA JET ASY - WIND

so it's a "jet assembly"... washer jet assembly.

my dealer is charging me just under $11 for one, special order. Presumably aftermarket versions are available for less money - call your parts stores.

I took one of the larger tanks out of an F-150 and put that in my 88 Ranger...they take the same type of plug on the older Rangers...and hold way more fluid...

The newer Rangers have been upgraded from what I've seen..so it might actually be the same as the newer F-150s...

You may want to check the *amperage* going to the pump as well as the voltage.

I had the same problem a couple weeks ago: even though the pump connector tested OK for power when the washer was activated, it wouldn't work. The previous owner kludged a fix by running couple wires to a doorbell-switch on the dashboard to run the washer

Turns out the washer-pump relay had shorted out internally: when switched on it was delivering the control amperage (200mA) to the pump instead of the working current (~ 2A IIRC). The relay is located in a small black plastic box (with 2 others) inside the engine compartment underneath the passenger-side headlight assembly. I'm still looking for a use for the doorbell switch.

one of mine didn't work one time, and i finally opened up the hood to see if it was a slashed line or something, found an orange drip down my firewall


took a needle at the end of the nozzle and reajusted the squirt. that's all it needed... apparently it just got a little knocked off track, and needed to be redirected.
